Trust me, no one is panicking about anything Evansville does or doesn't do - that's the problem. The rest of the league is simply tired of the incompetence they've demonstrated for the past two decades.

But back to your attempt to flex: Nothing I said is incorrect. UE fired its entire staff with no plan, at the wrong time of year, then waited three weeks to hire a guy they could have had in three hours.

They will have a make-shift roster full of stop-gap players who are borderline DI players with a reduced preparation timeline.

But congratulations, UE was able to make a hire.

I hope Ragland is the guy who can make something our of the Aces.

You were acting like an idiot bc you thought the timeline from 1995 is the same timeline in 2022.
I called your stupid butt on it and was right

No one in Evansville is happy with what happened over the past 20 years; but that didn’t mean there was some reason to continue with Lickliter or think there wasn’t time this spring to start changing the course of the program.

Now we're name calling?

Stay classy, champ.

Well this thread has certainly turned entertaining. I know BC has denied being the UNI twitter doof who lectured Marcus Wilson on how much more he knew about our program than Marcus, but it is so hard for me to believe there is actually two who play the same play book from such a small online fanbase. You have someone who is pretty well connected to our program telling you that Lickliter didn't even speak to his team for a month, and he's still pearl clutching and lecturing. I haven't seen him grandstand this hard since he was telling us no way Murray State was getting an invite. Tell me from your lofty perch in Frostbite Falls, what place would you have picked us if we kept Lickliter?

I have been a season ticket holder for nearly every year since the late 80's. If AD Spencer and Lickliter would have been retained, i was done. Already decided. In fact, I am not sure how I would have voted if the choice was retain Lickliter or take the team dark for the upcoming season. Seriously. The two of them literally sucked the life out of the entire program. I don't think it is a coincidence that every transfer happened before Lickliter was canned, and not a single one since.

I don't know if anyone else was involved this go around. What I do know as first hand fact is that when McCarty was hired, everyone on the committee wanted Ragland except our brilliant, former AD. Spencer was starstruck. The million dollar question is why did he then panic hire a walking corpse like Lickliter instead of reaching back out to Ragland then? My guess is his ego wouldn't allow it.

SIU fan tired of carrying us..did I fall asleep and miss SIU actually doing something relevant in the last 16 years? I know you got that former player whose only 4 seasons in. We Aces fans know those former players always work out. Give him 12 or so.

Again, I haven't seen any of our fans make any bold prediction other than we wouldn't finish last. I don't think that is cause for the amount of outrage and scorn a few of you are posting. Every Aces fan I know is ecstatic that we made the moves we did, even if it meant the timing that took place. Because our resident UNI Homer in Frostbite Falls wants to tell us differently, it really doesn't change anything. I would suggest if you really want to opine over and over about our program, you start actually following the people involved with it.

I say we win more games than we did last year, shouldn't be that hard. Our players will play
harder than last year, and our attendance, depending on our shitty economy, will increase
at least 50 %.

If Evansville does not finish last, I will donate $50 to the non-athletic department related charity of your choice. If Evansville overachieves, it's a win-win for all of us.

The Twitter guy you're talking about used to post here as clenz. He's had some real health and personal issues the last couple of years so maybe back off him.

We won't be overachieving. We will be playing to our abilities. How are you going to prove that you paid $50 to anything? Easy to make crazy statements on an internet message board.

50 bucks for a charity seems a bit 1980s to me. I spent that last weekend on fast food in addition to the 84 bucks worth of gas it took me to get there.

That snark aside, I honestly wonder why it's considered useful to ridicule a fan base that has been given a new athletics director, a new coaching staff, at least 6 players who can, at this point, actually bend over and tie their shoes or find their way to the classroom.

Not every Aces loss last year was double-digits, so I am assuming that getting a shot off somewhere inside of 28 seconds might actually generate some more offense.

But I honestly don't care if they finish last. What I want is for them to finish -- period. At the end, with the last guy on the bench being a kid who hadn't played a competitive minute in his entire career, I was wondering if Lick was going to have to suit up.

I suppose the rank and file fan of any sports program is too busy doing something besides belittling fans who post on forums, I'd venture that if the Aces do not finish last in the Valley, I will donate 100 bucks to a charity. It's not much but I defy the 50-dollar guy to match it.

I have no idea, but I recognize clenz, and I am almost certain it is not the same guy. Clenz has been around these boards quite awhile and seems to be a solid and balanced poster from what I recall. I am not going to post it, but the UNI fan making an idiot of himself with Marcus actually was going by a first name. Looking at his tweets, I had him down as either you or another screen name that hasn't been around in a while, but had a reputation about as bad as a couple of legendary WSU clowns. Regardless of whether it's him or not, knocking a guy for going after Marcus on twitter isn't a slam on any personal heath issues. In the real world, I hope nothing but the best for him. Since we're using screen names here, it would be a little harder for you to realize how connected someone is versus a fully identified Marcus Wilson on twitter.

You still haven't answered where you had us picked for next year keeping Lickliter? I know where I would have picked us. The first of May, we had a coach who hadn't spoken to his team in over a month, and had basically hid from the local media and fans for the last two years. At least 5 open roster spots, and one assistant opening. A month later, we have a completely new staff, who is enthusiastic and engaging with the media and fans, a FULL roster, and people talking and excited about the Aces again. Like the others, where we finish this year isn't my highest concern. Start following the key pieces of our program, and maybe you will understand why Aces fans are actually optimistic again. Here are a few suggestions.

This may be the norm at some places, but I can tell you this is not what we had from Marty or Lickliter...nothing remotely close.

Sorry. Got stuck in a meeting...

With Lick back, it wouldn't have been any different, I guess. I live in Eastern Iowa and we're still regularly subjected to Iowa fans bitching and moaning about him a decade plus later. I get it, he's bad, real bad. I just wish that the decision to can the AD and Lick would have been made on March 3rd. It delayed the process by a full year and every year that goes by makes it harder to get butts back in seats in the arena. I'm guessing if UE could ever get back to where they were when they first got into the league that you'd fill the lower bowl in that place and you could really get it rocking.

I just hope that for the sake of the league that UE gets back to where they were 25 years ago. With UIC coming in and having a pretty daunting curve to get to Valley level, we need as many other schools to improve their lot as possible. A healthy league depends on it. From the outside, this feels like the first time that there has actually been a commitment to getting better even if the timeline is super messy.

And on Marcus Wilson, I'm actually (selfishly) bummed that he took the job because I really enjoyed his TV work. He did a really nice job on the UE and MVC-TV games he had. Always prepared and really relatable. I must be old because I remember him playing.

Everyone is talking in circles but we all kind of agree.

In 2022-23 the UE MBB team will be really bad.

There is excitement in the community and among the fan base because there seems to be some actual direction to the program and there is a head coach and coaching staff people like.

No one has any clue how it will work out past this season.

I assure you the only Valley school I've actively rooted against left in 2017 and is now two years away from being in a league far worse than the one they left and it's delicious.
