Nope. There was an interview with Ragland in this morning's paper. The fact these guys came out today is not a coincidence. From the Evansville Courier and Press:

Ragland and his staff waited to meet with players until this past week, which explains why there's been little UE movement within the transfer portal. The Aces were on spring break the week after the conference tournament and Ragland wanted them to focus on academics when they returned.

The topic of those conversations? Reflection. It's a chance for everyone to look in the mirror, assess players’ experience in three ways — academic, social and athletic — and how they have “maximized that experience.” The coaches want every player to take their next steps, whether that's at UE or elsewhere.

"It’s just figuring out where we’re at, what’s best for each student-athlete," Ragland said. "Just evaluation from the year and then how do we move forward from reflecting on this year and those three aspects and what helps moving forward to each individual and the team.

Some conversations will end with the recommendation of a player to enter the NCAA transfer portal and find new opportunities elsewhere.

He goes on discussing how the staff is assisting each transferring player in securing a new program if they wish. He also discusses how they are working the portal, actively keeping as much under wraps as possible, the scheduling for next year and that the AD has implemented a strategic plan which is increasing the basketball budget as well as the athletic department as a whole.

Despite the record, these are some great kids, and I really hope each of them find the best fit for them.

I believe the mass exit of Evansville players comes down to the late coaching change.I believe our number is now up to 6.Four of those players were redshirting with only 1 being Rags recruit, other 3 were Lickliters. Two of the other three were also Lickliters recruits. Spinelli was Rags recruit and I wish he would have stayed.I also believe that all 4 of the redshirted players were at best D2 players.

It looks like Belmont is targeting a center and a 6-7 that can shoot from outside. They have contacted 2 6-7 forwards from D-2 that can shoot, Daniel Shofield from West Florida and Owen McGlashan from Saint Anselm. Both are north of 40% on 3-point shooting.

I hope they aren't anticipating losing Cade Tyson. I would like to keep him.

I don't know why you keep parroting this when we all know its not true. Teams were running off unwanted players long before the portal. Do we not all remember the Jankovic meme of pulling scholarships from players?

And good players would transfer back then too.

How about we stop selectively complaining about the portal when we want the bad players gone.

They would not have been stuck with all of those bad players if not for the portal.

I know it's only been one year, but I'm gonna say it now. Cade Tyson has NBA potential. I hope Belmont can keep him and not lose him to a P6 program. He can shoot the "J", both mid-range and 3-pointer. He can also drive to the hoop. Has good size. Would be nice to see him again for the next 2-3 years.

I assume you are referring to the players leaving. I don' t want to call them bad players as they are all great kids..but only one of the ones leaving was a portal transfer, the rest were Lickliter recruits.

I feel bad for these kids. It's tough, but at the end of the day, AD Ziggy and Ragland were hired specifically to restore the basketball program. You can't expect them to be tasked with this and then expected to live the next 2-3 years with the decisions of the guys who got canned for making bad decisions.

We've been waiting on Evansville to restore the basketball program since 1999.

May the portal be kind.

Two of the players that left Belmont for the portal have transferred to Tennessee State of the OVC. E.J. Bellinger and Michael Shanks are going to TN State. An interesting side to this is that Tennessee State campus is 5 miles from the Belmont campus. Also, the coach for TN State is Brian "Penny" Collins who play for Belmont in the 90s. The assistant coach for Belmont at the time that Collins was playing the current head coach for Belmont, Casey Alexander.

Amicable. There has always been a good relationship between Collins and Belmont.
