It truly amazes me, that eventhough multiple posts have outlined the many negatives for the XDSU's to be invited to the Valley, that some still list them. I think those posts pretty much sums it up for those programs. Let's move on from them, shall we?

You can list almost disqualifying negatives about any school under consideration not named St. Louis, right?

The XDSUs have rabid fan bases that could be leveraged to provide the right kind of support for basketball to make them a viable product. Is it there now? No. Do they bring a lot of TV viewers? No. Are they in the larger world of potential options under specific conditions? Yes.

Sure, you can list disqualifying negatives, etc., but the negatives are overwhelming against the XDSUs. Even one of the UNI posters mentioned that your football team flies to the Dakotas. And what, "larger world of potential options" are they a part of? Certainly not the world of regular student recruitment. If there is another round of realignment that will have an effect on the Valley, you can believe regular student recruitment will be at the top of the list: higher than geography, fan base and history of winning or lack thereof (Loyola, UIC)

Honestly at this point the MVC really has no good options for expansion that are realistic / could pass a vote. Oral Roberts and NKU athletically are the two best fits. Every other candidate would just be a market grab. UIC was a pure market grab, but at least I feel like they have the ability to compete and improve their programs. I don't feel the same way about Kansas City. The XDSU's will never happen, although I think they would be good additions.

Agreed. I believe we'll know about the Valley's moves or lack thereof in the next couple years or so. Everyone's waiting on the PAC-10 & Big 12 which will more than likely affect the MWC>>WCC>>WAC/MVC/AAC. Quite a few possibilities.

No one wants to send their teams to Arizona, especially non-revenue sports. Geography still matters at our level. It has nothing to do with them "not being good enough".

Well, here we go again! The Colorado Board of Regents has scheduled a meeting concerning "athletics operations". The rumor is that the Board will request admission to the Big 12. This will then start the anticipated next wave of realignment that could possibly affect The Valley.
