Regular season champ means more than post season where flukey things can happen. I'm not taking a shot at Indiana State here, just making a general point. NIU was a good ball team that season, but they had the sort of luck that Jimmy Johnson has in Nascar and Kevin Harvick's point would apply here to. And Ali did have a moment though it is hard to be national name with a last name so long.
It has only taken me 2 days on MVCfans.com (I'm starting to question how it took even
that long) to conclude that you have no clue as to what you are talking about.
1) Northern Illinois University is not in the MVC...the University of Northern Iowa
is however, maybe that's who you meant. Thought a Mizzou State fan would know that.
2)That degree won't win you ball games, also very few coaches
don't have that degree. And UNI hired someone who had worked with those players and the program (and was familiar already with the MVC and its teams) for years so it was an easy transition.
3)Thank you for reminding me how UNI winning the regular season title was sooo much sweeter than knocking off the #1 team in the nation and making the Sweet 16.
And you can frame that win however you want, UNI still won, still became national story and until Mizzou State (
) does something of relative importance on the national scene, UNI will be more relevant in CBB. I'm sure it's that regular season title that is boosting the number of applications UNI is recieving and gave us the unprecedented level of talent our incoming recruits have...not that Sweet 16 run. Gotta love TAFE and the people who are oblivious to it.
