One of the Peoria Journal Star reporters, Kirk Wessler, participated in the mock draft. Here's the link to their final results: http://blogs.pjstar.com/wessler/2014/02 ... seed-list/

This would put WSU in Indianapolis in separate brackets from Creighton and Kansas.

They had Creighton and Kansas playing the South and WSU in Midwest.

I'm surprised the mockers sent Wichita to Indianapolis instead of Memphis. What I'm guessing is that there's little difference between getting sent to Indy or Memphis for WSU; therefore they send Wichita to Indy to cut down Florida's travel.

That actually could get Wichita away from playing the Jayhawks; as Michigan St obviously prefers Indianapolis and Kansas could go easily to either Memphis or Indy.

The big thing to me here is the acknowledgement that schedule intent, not just the actual SoS, is considered by the committee.

Wichita officials should be in the process of putting together all their communications with officials from the tip-off event in Dallas who couldn't find Wichita an opponent this year.

If they're looking at scheduling intent, Pittsburgh should be left out and Iowa's seed moved down at least a line or two.

Agreed. Neither team deserved to win.

Arizona State's entire gameplan was to have one guy run around with the ball and score. They weren't setting screens or passing ... Just dribble penetration and either score or turn it over.

Teams that can get a 1 seed ahead of Wichita if they win out, even if Wichita is undefeated:
Syracuse, Arizona, Florida, Kansas, Villanova, Michigan St (health is a big factor here), Duke
Maybe:
Cincinnati, San Diego St, Iowa St, Creighton, Iowa, Michigan, Wisconsin
Probably not, but not impossible:
Kentucky, Virginia, Texas, Louisville, St Louis (yes, even with the H2H loss), Ohio St

So since this post:

Arizona lost to Arizona State in spectacular fashion (i.e. one of the ugliest basketball games I've ever seen.)
Michigan State drops a bad one to Nebraska at home.
Villanova blown out for the second straight time by Creighton.
Michigan drops a home game to Wisconsin.
Kentucky dropped one to Florida at home.

Only Florida, Wisconsin, Creighton, and maybe Saint Louis improved their chances at the one seeds. Florida looks pretty well locked for one to me ... I seriously doubt the other three have much of a shot.

Still looks like Syracuse, Florida, Wichita State, Arizona as the one seeds to me. Duke has to beat Syracuse to be in that conversation. I don't think Kansas can lose another game. Everyone else looks well behind the pack to me.

I've pruned the list a bit (Kentucky is off the board, so is Louisville because I overvalued that profile).

Updated list:
Teams that can get a 1 seed ahead of Wichita if they win out, even if Wichita is undefeated:
Syracuse, Arizona, Florida, Kansas, Duke
Maybe:
Michigan St, Iowa, Michigan, Iowa St, Creighton, Wisconsin (really, if we have a solo B1G champ, they'll be a threat)
Probably not, but not impossible:
Cincinnati, San Diego St, Villanova, Virginia, Texas, St Louis (yes, even with the H2H loss), Ohio St

Meanwhile, it's time to get serious with my S-Curve.

I've decided to go back to Arizona > Wichita. I went back and forth on this many times. I can definitely say Arizona needs to be much better than they were Friday to keep the spot, and I may drop them even without a loss. But right now they have 4 road/neutral wins against the top 25 in the S-Curve. Both losses are on the road to tourney teams, and are partially erased by those elite road/neutral wins.

The good news is Wichita is miles clear of Kansas right now for #4 overall. I think Wichita could even survive a loss to stay on the 1 line right now. Kansas is the best of an ugly choice for #5 overall, and me elevating Duke to 6 should just show how big a mess the 2 and 3 lines are.

Indiana St is creeping up the list, if only because there's carnage everywhere else. Be the last man standing! I don't think they'll get there, but one can always hope.

The 1 line: Syracuse (25-0), Florida (23-2), Arizona (23-2), Wichita St (26-0)
The 2 line: Kansas (19-6), Duke (20-5), San Diego St (20-2), Michigan St (21-5)
