SIU had a period of dominance and fell. WSU fans have a lot to be proud of but I'm sure most of them realize it won't last forever. WSU dominance simply isn't anything to worry about. At least not long term.

And no I didn't play b-ball at the college level. You have me mixed up with someone else.

Not you. Without going back and rereading 2 or 3 weeks of posts I think it was WuFan who tried to blow smoke that he was an ex-NAIA BBer, or some other NAIA sport. When he is challenged he goes and hides and pops up with name calling and slander---but he is just like the other 4 or 5 big time posters on this forum.

I'm not the bracketologist that many of you are, but what is the highest seed a team with only one top 50 win has ever had? It would almost seem unprecedented for a protected seed team to only have one such win. Perhaps Murray St was somewhat similar?

Short answer: it would be unprecedented for a team with 1 Top 50 win to get such a high seed. But a couple retorts:

1) The committee isn't dumb. If they see 1 Top 50 win and 5 Top 60 wins, they'll be fair about it; and
2) Wichita is really in new territory. We've really never seen a Top 5 team with this kind of resume, ever. There's no precedent on how this type of team will be seeded, at all.

That's not gonna work. Historical trends make it pretty clear there's not enough quality wins available in that kind of conference.

So, what's your point. MVC is not getting an at-large bid now. Praying and hoping that some one can pull off a "MIRACLE" and beat WSU in the tournament and take the automatic bid---and WSU then get an at-large. If that is the strategy then I have serious doubts MVC deserves a 11, 12, 13, ???? ranking WEAK-WEAK--WEAK. Don't think MVC teams, without sucking on WSU' hind teat looking for games, win or lose to build a stat, and then relying on a tournament miracle, deserve an at-large bid. Some of you guys want to play poker with 52 wild cards. Several posters knock Horizon or CUSA, but if you can't play them heads up, why are we even having this discussion?.

You act like this year is the norm for this conference.

This is an outlier year. A big, big outlier year. Everyone but Wichita struggling more than usual and Wichita going bonkers.

To want to make changes to the conference based on an outlier year is not wise.

There is no logic to the statement that WSU's success holds down the rest of the conference.

None.

For several years--from about when Turgeon became the WSU coach, extending now through Marshall's tenure. the MVC was almost exclusively a two (2) team, conference--with an occasional flash by another team. It was either Creighton or WSU. The MVC was severally unbalanced, and remains so today with only WSU at the top. Have to expect WSUs level of success will continue=at least as long as Coach Marshal stays around. IF, and that's an if, Marshal gets policed off by a bigger BB school at bigger $$$$s---or perhaps by an NBA team at quantum $$$$$$$ he couldn't refuse--WSU may revert back to being just another mid major in a 2nd tier conference. Is that the best you can hope for. MVC needs balance now and the near future. Cut WSU and go recruit a good new member school. Getting a good new member is a 2 sided problem: 1--with WSU in the MVC it probably will be difficult recruit a good MM BB school to face the same unbalanced/one dominating team issues all other MVC schools are currently facing; 2--If WSU is gone what school will want to move from a #11, 12, 13 conference to another #11,12, 13 conference---and you certainly are not going to get a SLU, Butler, or Creighton or Tulsa, etc coming back. Again, in sequence, cut WSU, rebuild the remaining 9, rebuilt MVC recruit a new member.

Now, give me an alternative---other than status quo!!!

MVC is not going to cut any school that is in the league now. The only way a school is going to leave is on their own.

Who are you trading them for? Do you really want to go back into the Omaha market just a year or so after Creighton left?
