You can think whatever you want to, it's a free world. UNI's non con was significantly less challenging than WSU's.

One could easily argue that the anomaly was WSU's play in Cedar Falls. That seems to be the one outlier of all the pieces to examine. The tournament is what it is. 18 games determines the truest champion. Always has, always will.

College basketball teams have been and always will be judged based on what they do in March. Nobody gives a rats about the regular season. The NCAA tournament is the holy grail of college basketball and will always be the trump card when determining a seasons success or failure.

I disagree. The regular season matters, and quite a bit. I bet every coach, including coach Jake, would agree with that. Postseason is maybe more important, but the regular season really does matter.

When was the last time the actual POY winner received so few votes in the preseason poll?

FVV last year? He wasn't in the Top 10, as near as I can tell. Tuttle was on the preseason All-MVC team both years. I don't know where to get the raw numbers.

It is weird to think that according to some on this board we would be a better team had we lost to someone in our non-con schedule than losing to Evansville.

If we finish 27-3 and 17-1 in conference as opposed to 27-3 and 16-2 in conference we miraculously become a much better team. Awfully strange logic to me, but hey whatever helps people sleep at night.

Not a much better team, just the best team. ;)

I almost nailed the first/second team. My only miss was where it had Christian Thomas as my tenth man on the second team. Turns out Reggie Lynch was the tenth man with Thomas as an HM.

I also got 4/5 freshman, though not nearly as difficult.

Anyone here NOT think UNI is really, really, really good this year? Anyone?

I think UNI is outstanding. Better than I ever thought they could be. Just not quite as good as WSU.

As to your comment...if UNI had lost to say Duke and beaten UE....yes, I think they would be better team. Beating UE is better than losing to UE. Is that hard to understand? Am I missing something?

Well you can think whatever you want. No one is stopping you from having that opinion. My opinion however is different. So I guess we will have to agree to disagree on this one.

Yes, you are missing something. Some of the Shocker fans on here are using the conference championship as an ultimate trump card for being the better team and/or for one of your guys being the POY over Tuttle.

WSU lost to an 18-11 George Washington. UNI lost to 19-11 Evansville. Remarkably similar losses. One just happened to be the difference to winning a share of a conference championship and the other was an irrelevant non conf loss.

What metric would you like to use to demonstrate UNI is the superior team?

Head-to-head: 1-1
RPI: WSU = 11, UNI = 16
BPI: WSU = 10, UNI = 14
AP Poll: WSU = 8, UNI = 11
Coaches Poll: WSU = 8, UNI = 12
KenPom: WSU = 10, UNI = 13
Sagarin: WSU = 15, UNI = 26

We have lots of trump cards, but thought it would only be necessary to play one.
