I've been wondering all day what happens if UNI wins out and MSU, LU, and DU split (bears beat drake), what would the seeds be for those four?

UNI is the one seed in any 4 way tie scenario because of the sweep of Missouri State.

Loyola is the 2 seed in every scenario because they won't be passed in the NET rankings.

The winner of Drake/Missouri State is the 3 seed

The loser of Drake/Missouri State is the 4 seed

Round Robin
UNI 4-2
Loyola 3-3
Winner 3-3
Loser 2-4

Incorrect, Bears would win tiebreaker over Loyola and be the 2-seed in this scenario. Was posted by the Valley Hoops official twitter. UNI would be the 1-seed and this is their most plausible route to the 1-seed.

If Drake wins, then MO State would just have 10 wins and would be 4th (or 5th if SIU wins both too).

Saw another source with it flipped. My bad.

UNI gets the one in a 4 way tie. UNI gets the 1 in a 3 way tie as long as it involves Missouri State. So if you guys could lose Wednesday and win on Saturday, that'd be great....

Seriously, other than avoiding Thursday does anyone care what seed they are? I think everyone will head to STL thinking they have a shot sans Evansville. Even the Thursday teams... Do I think ILL ST/SIU/Valpo/UNI/Bradley whoever occupies the 7/8 seeds cannot turn around and beat whoever the 1 seed is. Its crazy. The fact is at this point if your team gets the 4 seed they may play Loyola... or your team could get the 8 seed and play Loyola... or You could get the 4 seed and play Bradley, or get the 2 seed and play 7 seed Bradley. I am so excited for the tournament, there will undoubtedly be a blow out or two but every game is a virtual pick em on a neutral floor. Crazy.

As an SIU fan there is no team I feel confident about playing and no team that I am scared of. I assume most of you feel the same way about your team.

Doesn't the 1 seed get an automatic bid to the NIT? That's a really nice consolation if things don't shake out for you in the tournament, especially this year when no team in the conference would get an at large to the NIT.

Without that, I would agree with you

I agree with the NIT thing and I still figure there's an advantage to being the 1 or 2 and playing a team on very little rest. But yeah, it's pretty much impossible to sit down and figure out what seed gives the best path for any given team.

I agree with this perspective. Getting a #1 or #2 seed and playing somebody who had to win the day before is definitely valuable when it comes to trying to win your first game. Seeds three through six? Probably no definite advantage for any one of those spots over the other.

In fact, as a Bears fan I'd really rather UNI be on the other side of the bracket, so I really don't want MSU as the #1 seed and UNI as the #4 seed. That could pose a significant barrier to getting to the tournament championship. I know that past results don't predict future outcomes, but the Bears beat Loyola twice and as hot as Bradley's been, the Bears beat them twice. Drake is going to be good regardless of where they're seeded, and we still have yet to see the Bears play them since they changed their playing style. But UNI's two wins against MO State makes me a bit nervous about that potential tournament matchup.

History says getting out of the play-in game is huge, as play-in teams are now 1-41 all time against the #1 and #2 seeds. Other than that, this is by far the widest open the tournament has been in YEARS. Per Dave Reynold's (Bradley beat reporter for Peoria Paper), this will be the first time in 111 years that the league champ has 6 losses in conference.

The play-in games didn't start until 1997. Before that only 8 teams made the tournament. I believe Wichita won as a 7 seed once and that's the only time a 1 or 2 seed didn't win their first round game.
