It does feel like its inevitable at this point.

The Big East split because FOX came in with a billion dollars for the traditional basketball schools. Then ESPN showed up with $400M for the football schools to merge with the old CUSA. That's not happening here.

If we split, literally none of us have a better option. It doesn't exist. The Valley has been around for 110 years and has had to majorly reinvent itself several times, this is just one of those times again. If this league can survive what happened in the late 90s, this is easy.

I could be wrong, but I don't think it was entirely that simple and in that order.
My understanding was that the basketball schools were upset that conference decisions were being based on football while football schools were upset about sharing football based revenue with basketball only schools. The tv contract was not as valuable, simply because football revenue is extremely high at that level and the league was not a football power. Chasing after football money was what caused Boston College and later Pittsburgh and Syracuse, all schools that were traditional Big East schools dating back to the 80's, to leave.
Again, I could be wrong because I haven't researched. Just how I remember it. I wish it would have started that way because it could have turned out better for college basketball a lot sooner.

You're right in the leak to the ACC but the weird coalition Big East would still be a thing had the TV money not come in to make it possible for the traditional basketball schools to kick out the football schools.

Lets be honest. The MVFC is more successful and marketable than the MVC. The football schools that have higher aspirations (NDSU, SDSU, ILST, MSU) should go to Conference USA and if they cant afford it then breakaway.

“Inevitable” would mean it’s backed by evidence. There would be a credible report from a Matt Brown or Norlander of a school looking for an MVC/MVFC split.

“Inevitable” does not mean two posters repeating the same fantasy ad nauseum — one posting 24-team super MVC ClipArt maps and the other a Sycamore fan plastering it on any message board he can find.

Fantasies contain the word “fan” for a reason - they’re wishful thinking rooted in fan-think. They’re not grounded in the reality of budgets, demographics, etc - the actual drivers of realignment.

The MVC has its final televised on CBS. OTA television. It’s the 7th highest rated conference final over the past 4 years.

You really have no idea how the business of college sports works. Or budgets, demographics, tv ratings, etc. Researching and reading up on stuff that matters would help before making everyone else cringe with 24-team ClipArt maps and other fantasies.

This is the most laughable thing you've posted and that includes all the crazy super conferences you're obsessed with.

The MVC has national linear TV packages with two major cable networks, the most robust regional network of any league outside the P5 and a championship game available in 100 Million+ homes.

The MVFC is all online and the championship game of the entire division airs on ESPN2 at 11:00 in the morning in January where all they do is talk about the Playoff title game and promote the basketball game that's on after it.

Thank you for injecting common sense. I’m also fed up with the nonsense.
