It's been reported that over 250 were left hanging last year or roughly 20% or so didn't find a home.

Its really the high school kids that are getting screwed in this whole thing. There aren't many schools in the top 15 leagues that are going to take a 'project' and let them develop. You've got to be ready to do the minute you step on campus.

Not too many kids are willing to be a 2-3 yr project anymore . Bears had 3 such players they recruited 2 years ago, they all played minimally in year 1, then were all redshirted last year. So basically they have 4 years left because of rs+covid ; 2 of the three have entered the portal and I suspect the 3rd will as well. Coaches are hitting the portal to get skill and/or experience they need now, but then that means your freshmen sit unless they are ready now , and most just won't do it.

..and if you take a project and turn them in to something, they will just bolt, to a major conference as soon as thy get the chance (Liam Robbins) Not worth the investment anymore.

Disagree 100%. Do some leave? Sure. But a lot stay. People are so panicked about the transfer portal.

I am not sure you are capable of NOT disagreeing 100% about anything you hear, read or see. It's just you. We all know that by now.

If one were to actually use any reasonable analysis of the portal situation, one would see that it is a major upheaval in college basketball.

I am not going to argue right or wrong on it, but it is what it is.

It's change. It's new. People don't like change. It scares them. I get it.

The teams that have always been good will stay good. The teams at the mid major level will stay mid major. The teams at the low D1 level will stay at the low D1 level.

There isn't going to be some seismic shift in the landscape. Good grief.

So a player can transfer to a D1 school from another D1 school one time and be eligible the following year.
But if a D2 player wants to transfer to a D1 school they have to sit out a year.Correct me if I'm wrong.
