Just drives me crazy to see people be so childish about things when it is a conversation for the most part between grown ups.

You really think Lusk is an upgrade to Martin? Really? Would you have felt the same if Martin stayed?
One of the biggest problem your school faces is $$$. I don't think you realize that along with the other lack of sustained success your school's athletic programs have provided.

While your statistical arguement is a valid one. I would counter by saying that the top 4 or so have probably maxed out. To me SIUC, Illinois State, and Missouri State have the most potential if they went full tilt into FBS. While UNI has been very succesful, I am hesitant to think that a small, small state like Iowa can support another FBS team. Probably the biggest thing that people need to understand is the immense difference between FCS and FBS. Just because someone has had great success and high attendance in FCS does not mean that they would experience the same in FBS because that is a different animal.
For MSU, I could envision us being the biggest biggest football show between Columbia and Fayetteville North to South. And from Stillwater to Lexington East to West. That is a wide geographic area. It's just currently we have little interest in FCS. I could only name a handful of current football Bears but if we were FBS, I'd know everything about the third string long snapper. Night and day difference and I think that would be the norm with many people. Right now MSU football can't make a dent in the Springfield market with most people wanting to tailgate at Mizzou or Arkansas instead.
