Marcus Marshall

Gavin Thurman
Christian Kirk

There are just so many more possibilities this year though.
T'Mac could be the post with CK moving to the 4. Devon could be the point with Marcis moving to the 2. Thurman could be the 3 with Gulley coming off the bench (how is the knee?). Rudder, Sinpson, and Scheer all bring different things to the table as shooters off the bench and Rudder could start at the 2.

Dorrian Williams and Bruce Marshall seem to be the odd men out at this point but far from outcast.

Given the information that Mvouika can handle the ball, I can now see that as more plausible. Surely, Addo and Scheer will be starting or first off the bench at one of the front court positions right? You mention Williams as an odd man out, so in your estimation the freshman PG is going to take his minutes?

I agree that Addo will be in the rotation and play quite a bit. That's why he was brought in. I'm just not sure about Scheer? He's a senior. He plays very hard but he's a bit mistake prone and he has wild swings in his shooting % from game to game. Word is that Simpson (who is really a better athlete) may take a lot of his minutes and work his way into the rotation.

I hear that Thomas may play a lot as a freshman (at the point) and may possibly even start with M Marshall from day 1. I haven't seen him play but others that have are very excited about his quickness, ball handling, and ability to get to the basket. If that happens Williams (who is a pretty good player) may be the odd man out.

We really seem to have a lot of options this year. But to me a lot will depend on our post play. If Kirk continues to improve and our frosh big man can contribute (along with Addo) - we'll be ok though.

Scheer and Simpson are very similar in their strengths. Scheer will get the opportunity to succed and if he does, he'll be one of the first off the bench. Dorian must improve his shot. He reminds me of Cotton. Cotton was a nice role player till his shot improved and now he's legit. The Freshman pt guard might take his place if he can play under control. Lusk HATES turnovers. Just haven't seen what Addo will be for us. Need a rebounder/ inside defender.

Deal.
With a team like WSU there are more known commodities. Even then there are many unknowns. With a team like MSU there are very few knowns. I'd think Marcus is a given but how much has he grown and developed? Kirk could be bigger and slower or just more developed. Is Gulley the Gulley of old or just patched up? The Frosh and Jucos are what will determine if our weaknesses are dissapearing.

Gregg Marshall on Darius Carter (6'7" JuCo AA PF- Top-10 JuCo player of 2013)
He's the most D-1 ready JuCo I've ever seen.

Ron Baker on Carter
He's my favorite player of the summer games.

I know Baker was only a Fr (RS) and only had a few games last year, but his performance in the NCAA's gives his opinion some respect from WSU fans.

Early has been working as a wing in the top camps all summer.

The Shox have 2 6'9" Sr post players next year. The Fr post (6'7, 270) was the MVP of the OK/TX all-star game while playing PF.

Team picture from this summer. Pic won't embed, so I'll just give the link.

http://instagram.com/p/cFo-RjLIUw/#

Shaq Morris (6'8", 280 Fr) is the HUGE guy second from the left in the front row. Kadeem Coleby (Sr. trfr with 3 years of lower-level D1 experience) is the big guy behind him. Early is the guy with the huge wingspan behind Marshall. The guy on Marshall's left is Cheese Johnson. Any long-term Valley fans might remember the guy who went for 20+ and 10+ in his Sr. year at WSU.

The muscle-beach looking guy beside Cheese is D.J. Bowles (Fr PG). Marshall says Bowles is more D1 ready at this time than VanVleet was a year ago.

The guy at the far right is Zach Brown (6'7", 2014 SF). Brown graduated from HS in 3 yrs. and is taking a prep school year before college. He's on campus taking courses at WSU and working out with the team. Brown is a top-100 - top-150 type player. Brown continues a long trend of WSU signing players out of Houston. 4 years from Bush would be something like 17 consecutive years that the Shox have had a player from Houston on the roster.

Early and Baker are getting some press over the summer. Darius Carter is getting better reviews from the coaching staff and from fans who've scouted summer scrimmages than Hall got when he first showed up.

There are a lot of reasons for optimism in Wichita.

The player under Gregg's right arm has been a nightmare for opponents in the WSU intramural league.
