Last time I checked all those UNC fans didnt help hire those coaches, the AD did.
This guy is trying to,make himself more important than he really is at that school. Yes, you help create a great home atmosphere, yes you guys give money to the athletic department, but no you don't offer the head coaching job to a coach, which historically came from the ranks of the low majors looking to advance their careers to a bigger basketball program

You: look at these examples of places that failed with great fan support therefore fan support doesn't contribute to success and isn't necessary.

No sir, you clearly don't get it. For 4 pages you thought my argument was the above, how sad. Comprehension is a funny thing, harder for some than others. Clearly a WSU education wasn't good, because what you thought my argument was about mentioned by you above, was not close. Because of that, I feel like a repeater...
Fan support is helpful, but not when turnover happens at the head coaching position. YOU as a fan of Wichita have no influence on the future head coach of your program. You might think so, but fan support, money given to the program, etc. does not.
UNC is a clear example of it over the years when they made bad hires. Fan support is good for branding the program. Fan support is good for recruitment, fan support is good for helping fundraise the athletic department, fan support helps you at home games. However, it does not have any major impact when it comes to the decision of your next basketball coach at a mid-major level or even at the AAC level.
The difference: you see Kansas has prestige, Kansas has blue blood branding where they can steal a coach from another top end program (Bill Self from Illinois after they made the Elite 8 the year prior). While WIchita played in the MVC, yet made a Final Four and got national recognition for some of their results, you still won't be able to just take a top level coach from another program due to the fan support that has helped create the brand that is Wichita State.
If GM left WSU to Alabama a few years ago, do you think your fan support and money associated with it was really going to get you a name coach? No, you would have gotten a former assistant (Chris Jans probably) or somebody from a p5 program's bench or a low major again. Fan support would not have done that for you. The AD would have had a pool of candidates and made a selection from there.
Fan support contributes to your teams success in the present, however it has zero influence on a (Former) MVC teams next head coach after Marshall would have moved on. And, If you think they would have paid someone $3 million dollars from a Big 12 school for example, in 2015 to replace him, and that coach would have left their P5 job to slum it in the MVC, then you are badly mistaken.
