Even with the trifecta of losses, the MEAC’s still at 10. And Virginia St is better equipped for D1 than majority of the league.

After Virginia St, they can always rekindle talks with Winston-Salem St who had 1 foot in the door 10 years ago or even reach over to Chicago St who plays in an AA-populus area.

Florida A&M’s no doubt gunning for the ASun or that new conference. Bethune-Cookman and SC State are just trying to keep their doors open. And NC Central (NC A&T) and Howard (Hampton) would love to follow their rival out the door. But the MEAC should still be 3 losses safe from trouble.

Bethune-Cookman is headed for D2 like Savannah State.

Is that info on Bethune-Cookman sourced or just speculation? I've heard that rumored but nothing concrete.

Strong rumors, probably the same ones you've heard. They're having a tough time just keeping the doors open as a University.

I've heard it speculated that South Carolina State is having money troubles too and so is Howard though the Howard info is a bit dated and may have just been message board speculation.

Sounds like the row between Boise State and the Mountain West Conference has been settled amicably staving off (at least for now) a very significant realignment event.

The MEAC and SWAC just suck. The reason behind them playing their bowl game was just so they could have an excuse not to play in the FCS playoffs. NC A&T has realized that their peak is winning the bowl game against crap competition. They want to become relevant in the national FCS landscape and it sounds like they could eventually be interested in FBS.

Howard has an endowment of almost $700 million. They are one of the top HCBUs, if not the top.

Sports could cease tomorrow and they would be just fine. They could also pump money into any program they wanted if that was their goal. But I am guessing they are more academically minded. Urban campuses often struggle at football or don't have it at all. Think UIC or Loyola or Marquette. There is no room to expand to build the necessary facilities. I'm surprised Howard even has football to be honest.
