If Marshall leaves, Jans won’t be the coach. He is to old, if that is not enough then his off court stuff will keep him from being a candidate.

This assumes Gregg hangs it up relatively early compared to most coaches, which he’s implied he was going to do many times. Jans will want to run his own program for a while since he’s never had the chance to.
As for the off-court stuff, that gets more run than I think it deserves. AFAIK he had one really bad incident, was punished appropriately, and has not had another incident since. If families are willing to let their kids go play for him with that in his background then I don’t see it as a dealbreaker.
