If Marshall leaves, Jans won’t be the coach. He is to old, if that is not enough then his off court stuff will keep him from being a candidate.

This assumes Gregg hangs it up relatively early compared to most coaches, which he’s implied he was going to do many times. Jans will want to run his own program for a while since he’s never had the chance to.

As for the off-court stuff, that gets more run than I think it deserves. AFAIK he had one really bad incident, was punished appropriately, and has not had another incident since. If families are willing to let their kids go play for him with that in his background then I don’t see it as a dealbreaker.

Banned from University employment for life? Jail time? Just curious what you think the appropriate punishment should be. I'm surprised he got fired from Bowling Green although I think that was an appropriate punishment. Assuming there have not been any hush-hush recurrences I think he's been punished adequately.

Obviously it didn't meet the criteria for jail time. To me it's up to each individual university whether or not they would want someone with that in their background in a prominent position at their school. For me I absolutely wouldn't. I would much rather employ a coach with multiple recruiting violations in his background than something like what Jans did. But I'm speaking as a parent too. And I think about things from that perspective always. I'm no saint. i believe in 2nd chances for many things. I've done things I'm not proud of in my life BUT nothing like that. What if there would be a repeat incident? With a college coed? How would you reconcile that with that girl's parents?

I'm not going to defend it because of the position he held as a Head Basketball Coach.

However, the actual indecent of getting drunk and patting a woman on the butt is a pretty common occurrence in a bar. Most women are not at all surprised when something like that happens in that setting and many not offended.

That's bad enough for anyone let alone someone in his position. But it was more than that.

If you read my post at all I'm not suggesting he not be forgiven. Just that I wouldn't want him as a head coach at my university. That's not "casting a stone". LOL.

The bible is also full of wisdom/ verses about the kind treatment of other people which he most assuredly did not follow that night with those three women.
