The way I read it, KC would need to prove their seriousness before they can get an invite. That sounds like not this time, but I could be wrong.

We recruit KC hard for both students and athletes and there’s no way we would ever allow them in the same conference as us. I’ll be floored if they actually end up getting an offer to join the MVC.

UMKC would be a terrible add, especially if it caused MSU to leave. Though it looks like MSU would be more content being a bottom feeder in a bottom feeding FBS league than staying in the MVC and MVFC—neither of which they have been very competitive in. The FBS designs that MSU has are a real head scratcher. I would like to see them redouble their efforts at being competitive in the leagues they are already in.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Missouri State the reason Kansas City got consideration to start with? As I recall a few years ago, MSU was very concerned that the western part of the MVC was disappearing with the departures of Wichita State and Creighton and they were becoming a bit of an outlier.

Missouri State being such an obvious flight risk is all the more reason NOT to add KC. They are not a good program they don't bring that market at all they might end up hurting MVC schools who recruit athletes there and once the Bears leave they will be every bit the outlier Missouri State is without the benefit of actually being good. Hard pass. They are a distant third of the three schools mentioned and there are a bunch of schools I would rather take than them.

If Missouri State leaves the MVC it will be because they want to go FBS, not because KC or UT-Arlington join the conference.

I mean, Kansas City is would be by far the closest MVC school to Drake other than UNI and would be closer to UNI than everyone except Drake and Bradley, about the same as Illinois State.

UMKC is Drake's choice IMO.

Why would you say that?

I obviously can't speak for the Drake administration, but I've yet to meet a Drake fan who's in favor of UMKC.

I know as a Valpo fan it really shouldn't be me complaining but I am still having so much trouble getting over how crappy the list of known candidates is beyond Murray State. I'd really rather just do 11\20 with Murray State and but I guess I could be convinced if Arlington's presentation is compelling (which we'll never know for sure until they do (or don't) invite them. I just don't want non-basketball decisions to cloud the future of a basketball conference.

Perhaps you should know what you're talking about before posting. Missouri State is in the FCS playoffs for the 2nd consecutive year and is the #10 team in the nation; in MBB despite not playing to the level we want, we've been top three 2 of CDF's 3 seasons, we have the leagues best soccer team, the leagues best WBB program and been to 2 straight sweet 16s, the baseball program has been down for 2 years but traditionally is one of the Valleys best, as has been the VB program. I would like to see you redouble your efforts at knowing anything about what you post.
