Nice one. :Bam: i love that verse. i agree with it as I do all things biblical. And totally meaningless in the context of my saying I wouldn't want him as our coach.

As for the off-court stuff, that gets more run than I think it deserves. AFAIK he had one really bad incident, was punished appropriately, and has not had another incident since. If families are willing to let their kids go play for him with that in his background then I don’t see it as a dealbreaker.

It was not his only incident, it was just the one that got filmed. It also not about families, it about the risk, and the negative publicity that the university (and donors) are willing too accept. In today environment and with the liberal nature of the faculty at WSU - I don’t think the administration is willing to roll the dice on him - I just hope we never have to find out one way or the other.

I don't think Jans slapping a woman he knew on the butt in a bar in Bowling Green is going to cause the AAC to implode. I know things get off track, but this is pretty far away from the original purpose of the thread.

About that ESPN+ paywall. The way I read the reports of the agreement, there will be the same number of TV games on ESPN as there have been in the past. It seems like ESPN purchased the games that CBS Sports Network had and put those games on ESPN+. The B12 is getting a bunch of games moved to ESPN+, so that seems to be the direction ESPN is going.

AAC teams formerly in the Valley include Memphis, Cincinnati, Houston, WSU, and Tulsa. The AAC is more closely aligned with what I'm familiar with in the Valley than the current lineup in the Valley.

If the B12 poaches two AAC teams in 2024, that would leave the AAC as a fairly strong conference. Texas will never allow Houston to join the B12, so that leaves Cincy and Central Florida, which has been a solid FB program for a couple of years now.

That would still leave the remnants of the AAC as a top-7 basketball conference with enough followers of basketball and football to get some ESPN money. It might not be the $2 mill a year that WSU is expecting from the 2020 deal, but if that would get cut in half (unlikely) that's still a mill a year for a basketball-only school in the AAC.

Less logical analysis and more hysteria, please. Thank you.

I'm no expert on this and I acknowledge that the AAC coverage is far better than the MVC. However, what I've read on this is that the Big 12 is having third tier games on ESPN+ whereas the AAC has first tier games on ESPN+. That seems like a big deal.

If ESPN wants to use the AAC as a flagship conference to boost ESPN+ subscriptions then I guess they can try although I wouldn’t really agree with that strategy.

The new agreement has doubled our number of guaranteed games on ESPN (TV). I don’t think they’ll choose to air lower-tier games on TV and upper-tier games on ESPN+ but I guess it’s possible.

Eh. It may still implode. Losing UConn isn't an implosion. Very easily can be replaced and still have a really good TV contract that isn't affected by this. In about 5 years is when it's most likely

Somewhat surprised by the timing. I would've thought UConn would just wait 5 or so years until the next round of realignment came. Obviously they feel like football will be good enough as an independent not to hurt their overall case.

Also wonder what protections the Big East will build in, to keep UConn from jumping to a theoretical Big 12 or B1G or ACC spot.

I have to imagine the Big East will want a 12th team....unless a round-robin 20 conference game season is their endgame. If not, they have to be looking at a western team. And don't laugh, but Wichita has a fighting chance at that spot. They wouldn't be the favorites (VCU, St Louis, Dayton are all skulking around)...but I think they get a seat at the bargaining table.

Sources have already said their plan is to go to 20 conference games. So 11 teams makes a round robin.
