I would miss playing Bradley and Evansville in particular, but being in a conference where we compete against the same schools in football and basketball would be ideal. Three of the 4 Dakota schools had 20 win seasons so I don't think it would be much of a drop off especially when you throw Murray into the mix.

I agree that if Murray State is ever added that WIU is likely going to go to the OVC. SIUE, EIU, and SEMO are all closer to WIU than anyone in the Summit League. WIU is also rivals with EIU, so being in the same conference would be ideal.

Not a chance in hell that UNI, SIU and Illinois State are ever leaving a league with Bradley, Drake and Loyola to tie themselves to the Dakotas in everything. That's before we even discuss how much worse the level of basketball would be in comparison.

If UNI still wanted to be in the North Central Conference they wouldn't have left it 40 years ago.

Since Valley is part of the school name, I'd say it's nothing.

This isn't related to the MVC. I was thinking more a potential move to the Southland for them.

Hmmm... Very interesting.... Could\should BYU return to the Mountain West?

Opting into a conference because this year might be a challenge scheduling seems near sighted. BYU has a national following. Heck, an international following with their missionaries scattered everywhere. Do they still play their football games on their own network owner by the LDS church?

Looks like they may be switching from Adidas to Under Armour sponsorship.

I have heard that rumor as well. It's probably nothing realignment related but on the off chance that it might have been I felt that maybe it should be posted there. When Purdue Fort Wayne left for the Horizon League they used similar language as well (Major announcement). I think UMKC did too when they returned to the Summit League.

I agree. But the notion the author raises of the back half of BYU's schedule being terrible most years is very interesting. It makes you wonder if on balance especially with bowl tie ins the Mountain West might be a better home for BYU after all. As the author states their Sagarin rating has dipped considerably since going indepenedent and so has their viability as far as getting players drafted. The only way this has worked out is financially but on the field BYU is suffering greatly and might benefit from a reconciliation with the MWC. The notion that moving to the MWC would also convince Gonzaga to move as well and build a better western league is also probably true as well.
