Actually, you are incorrect on both counts.

Coach Marshall would blend far better with Texas A&M custom and tradition than Coach Turgeon has blended.

Trust me, I don't know a lot, but I do know a lot about Texas A&M.

Marshall doesn't play second fiddle very well, and football rules at A&M. I don't know a lot about South Carolina as to whether its football first or not. If so, it will be the location that will lure him back and he would have to check his ego at the door. Might be harder for him than he thinks.

If you haven't heard yet, Marshall is not going to A&M. More than likely he took himself out of the picture.

Since South Carolina starts with the word "South", you can pretty much bank on the fact that FB comes first. If Marshall is going to hold out for a school where basketball comes first, then he will be at WSU for a long time. As much as we hate to admit it, the only places that FB doesn't come first are schools where FB plays at a lower level than basketball (e.g., MVC schools), schools without football, or schools named Indiana, Kentucky, Duke, North Carolina, or Kansas.

Was he ever actually in the picture? I've heard a few different reports now with several names listed by A&M as coaches they are interested in and don't think I ever actually heard Marshall's name on any of the lists. Was there ever a report that A&M was actually interested in Marshall, so that he could more than likely take himself out of the picture?

A member of the media down there tweeted that, paraphrasing, "You can now cross Marshall's name off the list", as if they were working their way down the list of candidates. Why would someone on top of the story locally even mention his name specifically if there wasn't interest in him?
Random MVCFans.com member, circa 2007: "Gregg Marshall is in over his head in this conference."

Is the beat writer for A&M a good enough source for you?

Does any of this really matter? Gregg Marshall wasn't going to A&M, period. Of all the schools that opened up, this, along with NC State were the worst matches for a guy like Gregg Marshall. I'm sure the administration at A&M gave a half-hearted courtesy call, but they weren't serious about a basketball first guy at a football first school, and Gregg Marshall probably isn't interested in being page six sports news, burried in january by days and days of bowl recaps, only to be burried on page seven during March Madness as the local fishwraps focus on winter conditioning results followed by preludes to Spring practice.

As for NC State, that would have been the perfect job for 3G, but the terrible, rotten, horrible, useless, pantywaste athletic director was too much to overcome. The money and prestige of the ACC, and being at a basketball first school, but I don't know who could work for Debbie Yow. Shocker fans should LOVE Debbie Yow, they shouldn't be afraid of too many schools in Texas. If you really want to know how good of a job A&M is, consider the fact that Doc Sadler is on the short list. DOC FREAKING SADLER!!!!

Texas Aggie has a very, very weird culture. No one with much of a brain would fit in there all that great. They have a graveyard for the collie dogs that represent the school. Plus they'd rather look at dudes dressed up in milkman costumes or "yell leaders" than ladies. Absurd. I think they hire North Texas's coach in the end but there were some rumors about Jeff Van Gundy.

Looks like Jacobson is being mentioned.
