This sort of reminds me of the talk about a Catholic League forming when the Big East implodes. It gets people excited, but the reality of it ever occurring isn't great.

Here is how it will play out. MSU and Wichita State to CUSA, Memphis to the Big East, Houston to the Mountain West. I wonder what the Valley would do because I don't see SLUH leaving the A10. Maybe Dallas Baptist will be ready to move up with their other sports in the next 5 years or so.

One dude on that thread says WSU when someone mentioned how the CUSA wouldn't stop at 13 and all the sudden WSU to the CUSA is fact.

Casey.....you need to lay off the koolaid. You are setting yourself up for major dissapointment.

I guess it's been decided. Why doesn't MSU just go to the Big 12? I'm sure they could just make a phone call or two and they're in.

I'm guessing on the Wichita State part. It would make sense though. Conference realignments are a real passion of mine, I really enjoyed watching all those Big XII schools twisting in the wind last summer.

The RUMOR I read was the offer did not include an invitation for football. Doesn't that league require a minimum attendance to maintain membership? I know that Ball State a school similar in size hasn't been meeting the required attendance and is at risk of being booted from the MAC.
Personally, I fail to see this as an upgrade for MSU. Maybe the C-USA knows they are going to lose Memphis and they are grabbing for straws to fill the loss.
As for the Valley being a one bid league, that is on the individual member schools, not the league, IMHO. Member schools need to upgrade their respective schedules in basketball. The Valley is first and foremost a basketball conference. Schools need to recruit to that fact.
IF, MSU does leave, offer membership to Butler.

Interesting.

Is there anything to this other than one tweet?

I remember the realignment in the Big XII had a whole lot more smoke before there was any fire. My impression is that Summer posting has begun, fans are running with rumors.

Then again, they could be gone.

This is a lot different than the Big 12 rumors because this also requires a school to invest a ton of money to make the conference change happen and it would seem that they will face political pressure if they want to move. I doubt it will happen as speculated upon by MSU fans.

It all started when Brian Banowsky was in springfield this weekend. He met with the school and according to some people at the meeting left a sealed letter to be opened by the BOG. 3 different MSU athletic staff members admit to being asked if they would support a move to c-usa. this past spring it was mentioned that a one time 11 million dollar upgrade cost with an increase of the athletic budget of 2.5mil. This plan does include football if the offer was truly for everything except football MSU can stay in the MVFC and still play in the C-USA. The C-USA ahead of the MVC with or without memphis really you cant go any lower than the MVC your either an automatic qualifier or a multi bid conf.

The confusing piece of the puzzle is football. Like it or not, the C-USA drink is stirred with football. Inviting a 1-AA school doesn't help. And from what I understand, MSU is a bad 1-AA program. Either C-USA is giving up on football or they are risking a bunch by offering membership to a program that has proven nothing in football. UNI or even SIU seems like a better fit to me. Both. Are 1-AA powers with good followings plus basketball history.

I guess anything can happen.
