Face it, regardless of how little these teams are enamored with the likes of playing US college teams in exhibitions, these Brazilian teams need the exhibitions just as badly as the US college teams. They need competition and the US college teams need competition and there isn't an abundance of teams outside of US college teams willing to travel that far simply to play a few meaningless exhibitions. And with the NCAA limiting these trips to once every four years, it limits the pool that much further.

In the end, a coach may not be able to pick exactly A, B and C, but he still can schedule teams within a certain talent criteria. The US teams do bring money, but that isn't that big of a deal. A Croatian team would bring zero dollars to the table. The biggest obstacle isn't money or the like or dislike of these teams playing US college teams, it's timing. If a college team is in Brazil at the same time a Brazilian team is looking for an exhibition, they can usually secure the game. With the teams planning trips months in advance, that makes scheduling a little difficult but not a giant task.

I hear you..but it has changed a lot. Many foreign teams now want money to play games. Now, this is why Brazil is a GREAT place to go for teams doing a foreign trip..especially in August. UNI still got decent games. You go to Italy (where everyone wants to go) you just can't get games this time of year. At least not any worth a damn. You have to understand the schedule of the local leagues to get the best games possible.

The problem is..many of these coaches, schools, administrators have no understanding of the outside world. Its kind of sad really. I see it time and time again. There is very little interest or sense of adventure. College athletics and university administration as a whole is very risk averse...you would think dealing with out "future" and "student athletes" they would be more open minded and educated about these things..but sadly they are not.

EDIT..FYI Wichita fans...tomorrow the Shox will play the Flamengo 19U team. Marshall is planning on playing only his young guys in that game.

I don't care if they are playing the "Little Sisters of the Poor" or the Boston Celtics, the Shockers have had their ass handed to them so far in Brazil. This promises to be a real confidence builder I'm sure and its unbelievable how many excuses have been made for the showing to this point. Admit it................this isn't last year's team anymore.

I'd rather us get our ass handed to us by the Brazil National Team when it doesn't matter than someone like Ball freakin' State during the regular season.

Forgot the 30 point loss to Wyoming. How'd I miss that one?

Great posts by all. Funnier than hell! Gregg obviously has to see what he has and who he can plug in the gaps left from last years graduates. Period.
No one saw the games. Who knows, did the Brazilians play there top guys? Or did they play the guys trying to make the team. Different style of ball also. 24 second clock. Is it run and gun? Was Hall playing against a 18 yr old greenhorn? Who cares.

Everyone keep posting though.

It's getting a bit annoying to see this poster continuously trolling the board. 95% of his posts are somehow related to Wichita State and negatively at that. He needs to get his cork screwed on or get corked. There are rules to this forum.

It's amazing what one hot weekend of basketball will do to a fanbase that's used to the basement.

Please determine WSU's success in the league this year based on their losing to some of the better pro teams in Brazil. Tell your coaches they don't need to worry about WSU. A team that can't beat the upper-tier pro teams in Brazil won't be any problem for Valley competition.

If you don't have that "hot weekend" you go home early from the "Lou" and watch the soothsayers pass you by on selection Sunday.

About 6 seconds into the interview, but who knows how reliable that is. Man get some cream for that or something.

You need to grow up. Seriously.

I'm aware of that and that is why I didn't immediately accept them as gospel. I've seen fans from all fanbases say things that aren't entirely accurate, so I like to get independent confirmation before relying on them as fact. Some WSU fans seem especially subject to this sort of hyperbole. One time I even read where a WSU fan proclaimed Orupke as a future NBA lottery pick based on his "objective" in person evaluation.

I'm not sure why asking for a box score would be such an evil thing.
