Are you suggesting the other MVFC members would be ok with letting you leave for the MAC in football but stay for basketball?

I'm sure the FCS conferences are just lining up to add a bad FBS team like Illinois State. Maybe your new stadium will get you into the MAC, but don't hold your breath.

A conference like the MAC isn't going to invite Illinois State for football only. They would have too many other options willing to go all-in. It just doesn't make sense.

Cleveland State numbers:

Undergrad enrollment: 7467
Football? None
AD budget: $10.1 million
Men's b-ball revenue: $1.7 million

While I was surprised at their low enrollment numbers I think their AD budget and revenue profile aren't much different than the ISUs. I also think they would see an uptick in basketball attendance if they had opponents like WSU, CU, MSU and UNI coming in, whereas they only have Butler as a name conference opponent currently.

CSU would, IMO, be a better addition than AFA.

This table shows 16,600 total enrollment at end of spring 2011.

Either way I'm not too big of a fan, all though like Oakland if somebody left I suppose it would be somebody to look at.

The numbers I got were from the Dept. of Ed and must have been at least a few years old since Fall 2011 show 11,700 undergrads (8361 full-time, 3368 part-time). Given that, I'd be even more confident they would have an "average" MVC profile within a few years of competition. That may not improve the "power" of the MVC, but it would add a little more stability, IMO. And it expands the MVC further east, which is usually a good thing, both for TV/revenue and recruiting.

It could also lay the groundwork to lure Butler (I just don't see a jump from Horizon to Big East).
