Different game..completely.

Larry Bird type players are nothing more than role players these days. Very very few guys at that size play below the room with average, at best, foot speed....

 :Bam:

You must not be old enough to remember Larry Bird in his prime. Hell, forget his prime. He averaged 20.2 ppg/9.6 rpg/6.8 apg during his FINAL season in the NBA (35 years old)..and he shot 40% from three.

Larry Bird-type players don't come around often and they surely wouldn't be a role player.

I thought the same thing. THE Larry Bird would be a star in this or any other era. Anyone remotely resembling Larry Bird in terms of basketball savvy, shooting ability, passing, etc - would be a star in the NBA in this era too. Regardless of foot speed.

I'm confused. This is the Valley and as such I believe we should be making Magic Johnson comparisons.
There are three rules that I live by, never get less than 12 hours sleep, never gamble with a guy who has the same first name as a city and never get involved with a chick with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Stick to that and everything else is gravy!

I think to clear up some confusion, Dougie Fresh should be compaired to GodOdumGod or GodShawGod. The other two scrubs you mentioned are not on their level.

I agree, but at the same time, I was referring to this comment.
No one from the Valley has made the Final Four since Magic Johnson played for Indiana State. Magic's team was the only team to have made the Final Four in the modern era.

Is Jake Odum related to Magic? He looks a little bit like him.

It was in this thread: http://www.mvcfans.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1248&start=0&hilit=Magic+Johnson

Crazy to see two players from CU being projected as draft picks. Not worried about McDermott leaving, GE will probably have enough credits to finish his degree by the end of this year. Hopefully he will stick around next year (haven't heard anything either way, just conjecture).

Just to clarify, that was a 2013 draft projection in the link, not this summer's draft.

After that, Doug took pictures with some of the kids and really made them feel cool. The basketball team really seemed like a good group of young men and they were very impressive to the Scout parents that were there. It certainly doesn't appear that any of the attention has gotten to Doug's head as he was as polite and friendly as anyone could hope for someone who represents the school they cheer for.

Not too surprising IMHO considering his dad is the same way. I may hate Creighton overall, but it's hard to hate either McDermott.

But we don't hate their character (or I don't at least), we hate the decisions that each of them made to jump ship. Either case is justifiable but everyone here is kidding themselves if the McDermott's did it to their program and they didn't harbor any resentment in the slightest. All in all it's semi-even because with the loss of one McDermott we gained Ben Jacobson, and the other loss will only hurt for a 4 year period.
[Insert snappy comeback]

I think we understand why they did though. Iowa State and Creighton are better jobs than UNI based on pay alone. We get that. If Doug wanted to play for his dad at Creighton it's hard to argue that too. Doesn't mean it doesn't sting though.
