What conference could we replace them with? The A10 won't and the CAA isn't good anymore.

WCC would be the next best option IMO. Gonzage, St. Mary's and BYU are worthy.

Of course it is the best option but it ain't happening. Mark Few won't let his boys do it. Of realistic options the OVC, Summit, Horizon, Southland, or SBC would be best.

Why would we do a challenge with any of those conferences? Most if not all MVC schools could schedule a game with any team from those conferences any time without being told by the league who you have to play and thereby getting saddled with a horrible game ala CU vs. Boise State for next year. Its not like anyone in the MVC would give a rats patut whether the MVC "beat" any of those conferences in a conference challenge.

If the MVC puts together a "challenge" event against any of those conference, we might as well get out the white flag because we would have given up any hope of competing on a high level.

WCC or bust.

Gonzaga might, I repeat, might, change their tune. In BB, they didn't want to have a February non-con game, in part because they occasionally already had one (I vaguely remember some Memphis/Gonzaga games). Maybe if it's in November, they'll go for it.

But their schedule philosophy is anywhere, anytime. If they're already playing several big games, and hosting a couple of cupcakes (because everyone needs them, even Gonzaga), there's no room for a middling mid-major. Their situation is much like the top BCS programs in that the mid-major provides terrible bang for their buck. That, plus the scheduling philosophy that requires you to value every single open spot on your schedule, will keep them out of something like this.
