Whatever happens the valley must not be pasive about this,

I really hope that wasn't a serious suggestion.

You just have no idea what tomorrow is like because you don't have any control of it."

If Creighton leaves, the Valley would love to add St. Louis, but it appears the Billikens are likely headed to the Catholic 7. The replacement would likely come from a pool of Midwestern schools such as Valparaiso (Horizon), Oakland (Summit) or perhaps Oral Roberts (Southland).

From Dave Reynolds:

A source has told me that Bradley has made overtures to the Catholic 7 schools who are forming their own version of the Big East Conference.

Bradley athletics director Mike Cross would not comment on the potential development, directing any realignment questions to the Valley office. But Cross did speak on the subject.

“We’re very happy in the Valley,” he said. “We’re long-standing members. But it would be irresponsible not to investigate all of our options. - See more at: http://www.pjstar.com/bradleyhoops/x103 ... wkcRM.dpuf

Due diligence. It would be irresponsible for most, if not all Valley teams, to contact the C7 and put out a feeler on what they're looking for.

That said, I will streak naked across this entire forum if anyone not named CU or WSU leaves the MVC for the C7.

How great would it be for Jim to be our Commish? There would be an announcement of new schools immediately.

A shot across the bow. What I think Bradley is really saying is, "If Creighton leaves and is replaced with a public school, we're outta here." I'd suspect Drake and Evansville have similar feelings.

I think Drake would like to maintain a healthy public/private balance, but I don't think they would be quick to leave the only conference they've really ever known.

Being a member of a dwindling minority in a conference full of scholarship football playing schools is always a concern.

I don't know if Bradley fears a one-school change (Creighton for a public who plays football, for example) as much as they do a chain reaction. Wichita finds a home somewhere, Evansville drops to the Horizon, and all of a sudden Bradley (and Drake) would be privates in a conference with, say, 8 public schools, maybe 6 or 7 who play football. That's the scenario that never ends well for the minority.

I know 6-4 would be an imbalance of football vs. non football and public vs. private, but I think the remaining privates would ride it out. Except Wichita, which has loftier goals.
