Obviously beating a sub 100 RPI team on the road, despite having already played 30+ games, made Evansville's RPI jump 16 places.

That's entirely logical.

The links are there. Great. Still think it's bullshit. Nobody's RPI jumps that crazily at the end of the year from a mediocre win.

I'm sorry you cannot accept the facts and admit you were wrong.

Let's hear you entirely logical, non-bullshit explanation as to why UE's RPI jumped 16 places between 3/25 and 3/26. I am eager to hear how to try to backpedal your way out of this.

Well considering that WSU did go to the Final Four, that's kind of a big thing.

Probably not the best time in the world to try and call out WSU fans on being overconfident or overzealous about something.

I guess it's just a Final Four though.

I agree it is a big deal, but if a cure of cancer came out tomorrow, would WSU fans claim responsibility?

As I've already pointed out, WSU post season run did little to contribute to UE's last season jump in RPI rankings. I'm sorry, it just didn't, and no matter how many times it is repeated, it still won't. People can call BS all day, but that is just the way it is.

I want to congratulate Evansville for their huge jump in RPI. They did a nice job. :bounce:

Seeing the RPI talk, I figure I'd rule in considering I like to study it in-depth.

I choose to side.....with neither the WSU side or the UE side.

If you look at the gap between rank 79 and rank 96, which encompasses that one UE jump, the difference in raw RPI is 0.0053. If you compare this gap between other 15 or 20 spot gaps in the rest of the RPI, the typical gap is usually above 0.01. So UE did make a big jump. But the product of that jump was more the byproduct of the bunching of teams more than the actual win. A road win over Canisius is probably worth, on average, 7-10 spots.

So the jump by UE was more coincidental, although they obviously would've jumped a few. The win deserves some of the credit, but not all. Similarly, WSU's run helped the RPI, but not significantly. So in conclusion, everyone's wrong

The four play-in teams this year will be SIU, Drake, Illinois State and Evansville. I can guarantee that at least 3 of the 4 will be true.

I agree with those predictions. I just don't see evansville finishing in the top 4 this year. But I do like Marty as a coach though and think the aces will trend upward.

I don't think there is any way Loyola avoids Thursday. Give me UE at 6. LU at 7, then Drake, IlSU, and SIU...
