I wouldn't call any of those elite. Only WSU to the final four is comparable. Some talented teams to be proud of, but not elite.

It is hard to compare teams from different eras though isn't it? Remember UNI's win over a very good KU team a few years ago? UNI would have had to have a very very good "team" to accomplish that feat. Especially considering the difference in athletic talent.

Agreed. I'd definitely say '79 Indiana State and Larry Bird hold the throne.
And should hold it until a Valley team wins the NCAA tournament.
I wish they would have a greats from the MVC at Arch Madness. Like Bird, Hawkins, Oscar Robertson...
Wufan wrote:That team was very good. They did not finish in the elite 8 or Final Four. That's where I draw the line for elite. Yes, it can be hard to gauge different eras which is why you look at how those teams did against their peers. UNI is borderline due to beating Kansas, but MSU? Creighton? Sorry, you need to brush up on your history.

And no Creighton team since the 60's has any right to an "elite" label, with their zero Sweet 16 appearances. Creighton has been consistently good for a decade, but never elite.
The UNI team that beat Kansas is the only team other than WSU last year that I think has any argument at an "elite" description.

Bradley knocked off a pretty good Kansas team in 2006 didn't they?
