Will there be any change in MVC membership in next 5 years?

Discuss the MVC hoops season here.

I predict Creighton will return to the Valley with in or about five years. St. Louis or Dayton will be added unless one of the North/South Dakota Schools start making runs in the NCAA tournament.

Is there modern precedent for a team returning to their old conference after leaving?

I fully expect SLU to fall back to its more traditional norm now that Majerus and his recruits are gone or almost gone, so who knows what will be the state of affairs in a few years.

Dayton isn't public, they are Catholic.

I'm not a UD fan, but they draw better, and have a larger market than Bradley. Honestly, the markets will probably keep both out, but I would have to think Dayton would get a call before Bradley.

As far as SLU, the market alone will always have them in consideration. Majerus is indeed gone, but Crews had a nice program going at Evansville for several years. You can't judge the West Point record for the obvious reasons.

I'm well aware of the fact that Dayton is Catholic. The parenthetical was intended to explain that non private schools won't be considered, rather than provide additional information about UD.

Crews was fired from Evansville. I watched Crews while at Evansville. Crews' years at Evansville actually provide a large part of my feeling that he will be unsuccessful at SLU.

The attendance at Bradley is obviously down, but it didn't help that three games last year were at the somewhat new, small on-campus arena. That made the numbers look pathetic.

This guy thinks the American could be interested in Wichita St.

The AAC will likely not stay at 11. Navy is set to join for football only. This would allow for bball only school to be added. Most Likely Wichita State/ small chance VCU or some other more eastern school. If Navy does not join. Look for UMass to be added for all sports. Any option would put a 5th decent basketball school in there to help with the overall RPI numbers and basically guarantee 4 teams a year.

I'd prefer a somewhat more reliable source than a poster on a Big East message board.

I suppose there is a chance WSU could get an invite to the AAC. It would most likely be accepted. It would revive the Tulsa/WSU rivalry. The Shox recruit Texas pretty heavily, so the games with SMU and Houston are good opportunities.

If the Shox are in the top 25 most of the year and make a run to at least the S16, that MIGHT get them an invite somewhere. I think most Shocker fns are of the opinion that the MVC is our home for the foreseeable future.

I don't really know why you're linking to random message board comments, but I'd certainly say it's the most likely fit for WSU. Geographic fit ... just depends on if they'll ever be willing to risk basketball only schools again. We wouldn't be an institutional fit.

And, of course, not being an institutional fit with the AAC would mean that we wouldn't be using the conference as a hopeful springboard into a BCS conference, the way every other program in the AAC is trying to use the conference.
