This is almost getting beyond laughable.

But then again, this is what happens when you get your karma shoved right back into your face.

I don't think so. A lot of these guys go to academies because they think it makes them more attractive basketball recruits. But then they realize that they aren't really schools and get screwed over. It's happened to a lot of guys.

And IlSU is quickly looking like they're locking up the 10th spot. I doubt they win more than 10 games this year.

No chance either of Hawkins or McIntosh stay and play four years at ISU. How many of these type of risks end up working out at the MVC level/

This is dead on.

Neither one of them ever end up playing at ISU, or anywhere for that matter.

How does ISU not finish last at this point? SIU is bad, but at least they've got bodies...
You are all forgetting that McIntosh came here with fellow Canadian Kaza Keane already on the team. The two played together on the Canadian national team this summer, so that would seem to make it pretty likely that he'd stay. Also, McIntosh had no grade issues that we know of, but rather it's that he didn't have the proper amount of coursework at the academy he played at to allow him to be eligible right away. In addition, Hawkins and McIntosh are both in a similar situation, so they have each other to work through this year together. I think that's better than being alone in the situation, at least there's two of them going through it together.

Sadly it is starting to look this way. Oh well a lot of folks in central Illinois are Cubs fans so many of us know all too well the refrain of wait till next year. :(

I'm not going to knock this guy as it's on the academy he went to. But we also shouldn't be knocking these academy/prep schools as a lot of kids go to them that don't have grade issues. Some do, but a lot of it is about exposure and these schools don't have to compete under the same regulations as normal HS's do. Hell, here in Wichita we have Sunrise Christian Academy that plays a lot of these other schools we're talking about and they bring in players from around the world and country to get an education and play for more exposure. They've done a decent job at it and seem to be improving their visibility. And we recently placed our own Zach Brown at SCA to prep this year and I don't think it had anything to do with grades. And we just got a commitment from Rashard Kelly who is attending Hargrave Military Academy and I'm certain it isn't a grades issue and is more of a development thing. Andrew Wiggins went to one if FL I believe. Most of them are fine and really do educate the kids and push academics while giving them more exposure and better competition. Some are factories that don't care about academics and some are somewhere in the middle.

How was he a risk?

And ok, if you count him there's one.

You don't think Hawkins and McIntosh are risks?

Bryson was a risk because he was a prop 48 guys, which I am not even sure exists anymore. He completed the necessary class work to get eligible and had an amazing 3 years for the Birds...(should have been 4 but that is a whole other discussion regarding the NCAA)...

Not answer for Recon- but where did he say its not a risk? They are high risk/high reward guys... I am okay with taking chances on guys like this... some will work out, others won't...
