Is it safe to say then that UNI will only be capable of producing an impactful NCAA Tourney team once every 4 years? Jacobsen isn't a reloader, he's a rebuilder?

Long story short, the last 4 years likely won't be replicated.

Fans here dismiss it as UNI fans crying - but losing Doug and his "replacement" flaming out with a lack of open scholarships really killed UNI. There was no offensive post presence.

With the players UNI has going forward (next year might be rough) and who UNI has coming in UNI *should* be a 23+ish win team every season.

UNI is probably an NIT team next year, unless one of the young bigs (Dahl, McDonnell, or Friedman) is better than we expect next year.

After next year, look out. Jake has never had talent like this. I believe we turn the corner to being a perennial tournament team.

uniftw is exactly right on the McDermott thing. Set the whole program back 3 or 4 years.

Don't forget UNI was a couple games away from winning a third straight MVC title in 2011 AFTER we lost Doug McDermott to CU and also lost Lucas O'Rear to a season ending injury.

If Doug stays at UNI how many MVC titles do we win in a row? My guess is 4, but a good argument could be made for 6.

UNI was just .5 game out of first after beating Illinois State that Tuesday night that O'Rear broke his ankle.

Also had won something like 9 in a row.

Had the tiebreaker on Missouri St too. Maybe...I know we split the series thanks to some last second shots.
[Insert snappy comeback]
