Tough loss for the Ramblers who actually gave Nevada a good fight especially late, missed so many open 3's including one by Custer with about 3 minutes left that would have brought it within 8. Was shocked that Nevada barely went to their bench, the Martin twins played 78 minutes combined, Caroline played 34 and Thurman 36. Only 23 total bench minutes for the wolf pack. Moser meanwhile still trying to develop the bench, getting production in spurts. Kaifes is really showing he's a player though, defense is improving and anytime he's played at least 19 minutes he's finished in double figures. More than just a shooter too.
Looking forward to playing Ball State, UIC, and St. Joes. Solid but not spectacular teams. Opponents for in wins have a combined record of 5-16, opponents we've lost against are 19-1. Hard to get a gauge on where this team really is. Also some bad news as Lucas Williamson may have a serious hand injury; early signs are it may be broken... if true Ramblers down to 9 players, and only 3 with any major experience from last season. Love the long term future of the program (both Chicago recruits Welch and Kennedy a LOT of buzz, Wojcik and Hall address the shooter shortage); but this year could be a tough one if this next stretch doesn't go well.
Also not MVC related but is there a team more all in this year than Nevada? 5 of their top 6 players in terms of minutes this year are fifth year seniors, the lone exception? A fourth year junior. Their roster has EIGHT redshirt seniors per verbal commits. Crazy.
