Because you have absolutely nothing to pound your chest about.

Lost your best players in program history recently
Lost the best returning player on your team to transfer
Lost a bunch of key recruiting battles this summer
Lost 3 times already this season AND HAVEN'T EVEN PLAYED A ROAD GAME YET
Lost any type of control of the American Conference, one which will have members cherry picked soon and you'll be left with a dying one...

Basically, all Wichita has done these past few months is lose. So... nothing to pound their chests over.

As for their NET? Smoking hot 130. Well done Wichita. You've obviously ascended the mountain.

The MVC has dropped to 12th in RPI against a 20th ranked SOS according to RealtimeRPI. Now may not be the greatest time to throw shade at Wichita State despite their recent struggles. What was supposed to be a banner year for the MVC has been anything but and is starting to call into question all the great work we did last year. If we aren't careful those who had written the epitaph for this conference will begin to wonder if perhaps they weren't wrong only early. We have bigger issues to address than the Shockers. I really hope the performance by the conference last year and Loyola's run was a sign of what the MVC could be and not the proverbial "dead-cat bounce."

When you recruit great players they eventually graduate (unless they are redbird, then they move to gated community. BTW, did you catch Shamet and Van Vleet playing each other tonight in the NBA?

Lost the best returning player on your team to transfer

McDuffie returned.

Lost a bunch of key recruiting battles this summer

They signed 3 LOI

G Etienne - Rivals Top 150 recruit (123), 247 Sports 4 star
G Gordon - 3 star recruit
PG Fernandez - 3 star recruit

I think WSU fans are satisfied with their freshman and juco recruits.

Dexter Dennis - 8.6 ppg, 45% FG, 41% 3p
Eric Stevenson - 10.9 ppg, 5.1 RBD, 1.4 stl
Jamarius Burton - 5.1 ppg

JUCO Jaime Echenique - 8.3 ppg, 6.3 RBD, 1.3 blks

Lost 3 times already this season AND HAVEN'T EVEN PLAYED A ROAD GAME YET

4 neutral games, but we will see what they do on the road against OU and VCU. But WSU has win over 58 Providence (neutral) and 66 Baylor (home). Those are better wins than any other valley team except Bradley who have wins versus 39 Penn St. and 93 SMU.

But 2 of the 3 losses are not bad.

You must be mistaking this season for WSU season in the MVC in 2016 when they started 1-4. WSU is 4-3 with a 2 game win streak (3 of last 4). One of them was against a B12 team. Meanwhile, Redturds are on a two-game losing streak. :D

Luckily with WSU playing in the AAC. They have some quality games to improve their resumes. They will have a chance for 5-quadrant 1 games, 5-quadrant 2 games with another quad1 and quad2 opportunity in non-conference.

How will WSU do? Who knows, but at least they have a chance still to build at-large resume, but the Redturds as of December 5 at-large chances are 0. It has been a crazy start to mvc - ISUB, SIU and Drake are off to pretty good starts.

As for their NET? Smoking hot 130. Well done Wichita. You've obviously ascended the mountain.

LOL, where was the Redturds before tonight games? Weren't u all suppose to be the next flag ship of the MVC? let see.......172. Well done Redturds. Way to represent.

By the way, WSU net was at 150+ last weekend before WSU beat Baylor. Imagine what might happen if WSU can go to OU and somehow pull out a victory. WSU net might start looking like their KenPom.

WSU definitely hurt themselves with the opening home loss. Will need some road wins to erase that.

But even with all that, where is WSU Ken Pom? 87. That is 2nd in the MVC behind LUC at 78 (and after their loss against Ball State at home, WSU might pass them by).

Hopefully the next "MVC" heat chart thread does not turn into a dissertation on a middle of the pack AAC team.

Nah, he can run his mouth all he wants, but when I look over at both his team, and his current ranking in a weakened conference this year... results speak for themselves.

He's full of hot air like most Shocker fans are. But I can respond at length and format it to look all nice like he did if you'd like ;)

You can call it hot air if you want, but he did point out a few facts.

WSU has 2 better wins than 90% of the Valley (Providence, Baylor).
WSU has better at large chances than any team in the Valley at this point. Even with the 1 bad loss. Even in the "weakened conference". The weakened conference will probably still get 3 bids.

I'm not sure if anyone in the Valley has enough runway to get an at large. Once conference season comes around, you chance for building a resume is over based on the currently rankings.

Will WSU get one? probably not, it's an extremely young team so there will be ups and downs, but the growth from the LA Tech game to the Baylor game is insane. When i left the LA Tech, I would have never dreamed we would have Baylor down by 33 at one point.

Assuming no defections a weakened AAC is still stronger than the MVC unless the MVC is having a banner year just as even a weakened MVC is stronger than the Horizon League unless the HL is having a banner year. That's why Wichita State did what they did and Valpo did what they did (multiple HL teams wanted and still desire the opportunity Valpo got) because joining a stronger league and therefore raising the floor and ceiling for your program is good for your program's longterm fortunes and health. Is it possible Wichita State traded stability for short-term prominence? Yes but it is also a certainty that even in the worst case realignment scenario for the Shockers they simply end up back here where they started.
