That part of his game will come but I'm not sure the league has seen a freshman this talented in a while. Going to be the first freshman to average 15 in 21 years.
Green is a very talented scorer/shooter, but his overall game isn't close to the level some players had as freshmen, players like McDermott, Shamett, and even Freeman this year to name just a few. McDermott averaged 14.9 but with 7 rbs and excellent shooting % across the board. Shamett if you don't consider the year he only played parts of 3 games, was at about 12 ppg, but his shooting percents and assists totals were excellent and he could defend. Green is good, could be an elite scorer by the time it's all said and done, but I think when you "homer " him with comments like the one above, it just sets him up for criticisms that he really doesn't deserve.
My observations having watched him in probably about 10 games or so is his combination of size and high release combined with decent ball handling make him really tough to guard from 10 feet out . He's aggressive so he's gonna score in double figures most nights, and will see his scoring average climb as he becomes more efficient in his shot selection. UNI would benefit by pairing him with a true pg in the future as he's a sg not a point. I think we'll see some really big scoring nights from him over his career, but the question that will have to be answered is will UNI be better going forward in his career with him scoring 22+ a night, or more like 16-18 and being a more balanced attack. jmho
