Didn't SIU announce last season that Hinson will be terminated if he does not make the NCAA Tournament? I feel like I remember reading that somewhere.

SIU never announced any such thing. There was an intentional leak to the guy that "controls" the SIU message boards (currently Saluki-Insider, formerly SalukiTalk and SalukiNation) that Hinson had already been fired and a replacement was already in line, but it was reversed before the official announcement was made.

SIU's administration was in complete chaos a year ago.

One year left, which is the time when these moves are typically made rather than letting coaches go into lame-duck mode in the final year, especially with a major roster rebuild at hand.

Relatively low buyout; the bump in ticket sales would offset the cost. In theory, at least.

Just wanted to give this thread a bump and say as a Saluki fan... I hope we lose on Thursday in STL by a million and Barry can be really embarrassed on his way out. Then me and my fellow Salukis can celebrate his Friday termination by watching basketball, kickin back, and take some joy in the fact that I know that midget will have to use a step ladder to get into that U-haul to drive far far far away from Carbondale forever and ever and ever and ever and ever. Agree. Do I think a change is needed? Yes! Do I ever want the Salukis to lose? Never. Ever.

The kids don't deserve that at all. I'll never root against a team with Salukis or Southern Illinois or SIU on their jersey.

I question the character of people who root against their team. Extraordinarily selfish.
