1) Any school with 25 or more Division 1 wins gets an automatic bid no matter what.
2) Any school that does not have at least 20 D1 wins cannot be considered for an at-large bid.
3) Any school that does not have a winning conference record cannot be considered for an at-large bid.

Notes:
a) Rules 2 and 3 go out the window if they win their conference tournament.
b) If there are not enough 20 D1 win teams then they can choose from 19 win teams, but rule 3 still applies, and all 20 D1 win teams must be taken ahead of 19 win teams.
c) Conference tournament games do not count for or against your conference record. Non conference games against conference opponents also do not count for or against your conference record.

Wouldn't higher end mid major teams, like teams in the Valley, just schedule a bunch of SWAC and MEAC teams to get close to the 25 game mark?

I think this is perfect!
Any team that wins 25 games against ANYONE has earned the right.
If you can't win 20 games today, you aren't worthy of a title.
If you can't win half your conference games, can you claim a national title chance?

David vs Goliath is a good story because it doesn’t happen very often - Bobby Plump

I watch for the upsets, that’s the appeal to me. A UNC team full of McDonald's All Americans vs a Kansas team of McDonald’s All Americans has little interest to me. I’m also not a fan of penalizing a team for their conference record when their out of conference record is stellar and the quality of the league is excellent. Loyola making the Final 4 is a big deal because they’re out of the MVC. Butler going to back to back National Champion games was a big deal because they were in the Horizon League. Would it be as impressive now that they’re in the Big East? Probably not.

I wouldn’t change much as I like that even terrible conferences get 1 shot, and it’s okay to me that the P5 dominate the at large bids.

That’s just my $.02

Neither Loyola nor Butler would have been prevented from their runs (VCU and George Mason too) by the proposals made here.
The David vs Goliath scenario is being eliminated by the new formulas being used.
You may be in a tough conference. Are those teams not in the dance? If you can't beat them in the season, why should I believe you are tourney worthy?

Ha ha ha! That was a great one. I believe he was using Clayton Custer for that argument last year. I haven't seen him bring it up again this year... I will give him one thing. I work for a septuagenarian, and he can type better than most of them.

BrarsCountry and Kyle@MOSTATE are two of the many very typical BEAR board members. Can't read, don't listen, MSU'd most of what they know,. Hardly understand what they MSU'd (making s**t up).
I never said the Bears should go back to the MIAA and recruit only Kansas city. Dudes on the MOState Board have most likely never lived with competitive teams, back to back winning seasons or teams playing for national championships. My bears in the 50's, 60's and 70's did all those things---several
times . Filled 4900 seat McDonald arena to standing room only/turn away crowds. They got big and built a 10,000++ seat arena and draw less than 5,000 (while the Springfield population has at least doubled) . They are ecstatic over escaping the Thursday Play in games. Plus they have an inferiority complex about trying to recruit in the big KC metro--afraid of having to compete/recruit against MIZZOU, Kansas, Kansas State (and Loyola). If I want to check on the BEARs I look at CBS Sports or RealTime---or this MVC Forum. SMS65/BEAR65

You look for info on CBS because you get thrown off the Bear Nation Board for hi-jacking threads and being a troll . You try to portray yourself as unique as an "old school" Bear fan, but always end up exposing yourself by using words like "they" and attempting to trash everything current about MSU.
The Bear is the largest carnivore on the North American continent; beware the Bear!
