For the Bears , Dixon had 37, Webster 35, and Krek 33; but combined stls/bs Webster had 58, Krek and Dixon were in the 40's and Webster out rebounded them both as well. But again beyond stats, I just saw Webster really cause problems for many of the pgs in the league and then when rotated, also able to give players like Green, Ellingson etc problems as well. I always thought Dixon would be an impact defender, and maybe if he played under Ford longer it might have happened . Krek like I said was a gamer, but not an impact defender imo.

Stats sometimes dont tell the story. I thought defense played excellent defense btw. But Webster did do well. I just saw Krek really dig in during the turnaround willing to give his body and get alot of charges

Townes is a great winner. Talked with a Villanova fan in SA who raved about Townes - back when the accolades went to other players - and pointed out how genuine Townes’ interactions with Sister Jean felt. Turns out that guy knew his hoops.

Congrats Nick McGlynn on an incredible season as well. Epitome of an emotional leader. Held the glue together for a title after the MVC’s best player went down. Very strong runner-up.

I'll disagree about Krek not being an impact defender. His greatest attribute besides his grittiness is the way he could get in the head of the player he was guarding. Saw that happen multiple multiple times over the course of the season. Not the most talented but IMO he had a big impact on that end.

Last six games/Season average
Fletcher averaged 22.8 ppg 8.2 rpg/17.8 ppg 6.2 rpg
Da Silva averaged 14.5 ppg 9.5 rpg/14.1 ppg 8.1 rpg

Where do you get 22.8 ppg? SIU website says 16.6 overall with 17.8 in conference for Fletcher. Just a couple of ppg better than Da Silva. And Da Silva was the better rebounder and shot a higher % from the field.

Custer is a joke. Who is not on here that deserves it?

Custer averaged 11.4 ppg and led the conference winner in made threes and steals. His field goal percentage at 43.8% was higher than A.J. Green (41.6%) and Darryl Brown (40.3%). He played the

Aside from the gaudy statistics, he was tied for third in minutes played because of his leadership and defensive abilities. In less than three full seasons, he's scored 1164 points in the MVC, and led Loyola to a 69-32 record overall and 35-19 in conference.

You might disagree, and suggest Jarred Dixon from MSU instead (a good alternate choice), but Custer's not a joke. I'd wager any team in the league would have wanted him this year.

McGlynn's commitment to Drake after going through three coaches in four years was powerful and inspiring. Watching him improve significantly every year, and playing with fire and great sportsmanship made me really root for Drake when they weren't playing Loyola.

Let's take BCPanther's proposition at its face. It goes something like this: "Clayton Custer only got a place on the all-Valley team because of his performance in the tournament last year."

Is that really so bad? On one hand we're trying to tout the legacy of the Valley as a conference that sends teams to the final four/deep in the tournament. On the other we're going to get our panties in a bunch when the player responsible for the run gets 3rd team all conference? That doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Custer is the furthest thing from a joke. (FWIW, I think Custer's performance this year alone is deserving of his placement on the all-conference team).

Fletcher 3.7 ppg higher than Da Silva is more than a couple & only 1.9 rpg less / Fletcher 8.3 ppg higher than Da Silva & only 1.3 rpg less over the last six games. Look at the underlined phrase in my original post and you will see where the 22.8 ppg came from!

My mistake. Didn't see the "last". Overall ppg is 16.6 for Fletcher vs 14.5 for Da Silva which IS just slightly over 2 ppg advantage to Fletcher. The rebound advantage for Da Silva is significant. Fletcher had a good year but I'll stand by my assertion that Da Silva is very deserving of 1st team all MVC.
