Bradley takes down Toledo 78-66 with only 7 scholarship players. Freshman Stephan Gabriel was dismissed from the team prior to the game, and transfer starting PG Danya Kingsby was suspended for 1 game due to a violation of team rules. Add that to the injury to Elijah Childs, freshman Reink Mast sitting out the year with a torn ACL, and two transfers (Nolan and McAdoo) sitting out this year, and the Braves have the shortest bench right now to start the MVC season. Childs and Kingsby will be back, but the Braves will struggle to stay fresh over the next 16 games as they only have a maximum of 9 scholarship players available for the rest of the year, barring any injuries or further disciplinary action.
On a positive note, the Toledo win is a nice one on paper. Darrell Brown scored 28, and freshman Antonio Thomas started his first collegiate game and scored 14 points, breaking his previous career high of 4.
