I whipped up an Arch Madness preview at lunch today and I think it is one of my better articles if I do say so myself. Take it in to prepare for the weekend if you'd like.

This week's article wraps up my thoughts on Arch Madness and the UNI situation, plus I take a look at some of the big decisions coming up for the league.

https://www.missourivalleybeat.com/post ... the-valley

I intend to continue to create MVC content as Drake and Loyola's seasons continue. Plus I have an idea for a fun article next week. So I am not done yet. But this does sort of feel like a season wrap up article in many ways.

:Yea!: Hello MVC Fans! I have two new articles for your consumption.

No new power rankings but I do have tid-bits. I pontificate on Loyola and Drake in the NCAAs, another weird COVID situation for the MVC at Hoops in the Heartland, Indiana State's reported new coach and a mid-major laden NIT field here:

https://www.missourivalleybeat.com/post ... -major-nit

In my other piece I put together what a Mid Major NCAA Tournament might have looked like if the NCAA was split into two subdivisions in basketball similar to football:

https://www.missourivalleybeat.com/post ... ampionship

As always, you can follow me on Twitter @BeatMVC

Thanks everyone!

Last tidbits of the year. It is a quick read about Loyola, the Lady Bears, transfers, and a roller coaster day for UNI fans yesterday. Thank you all for reading my stuff this year!

I've been spending an inordinate amount of time on football lately, but I took a break to do a quick hitter basketball power ratings. Not the start to the season we wanted as a league.

UE's next 4 out of 5 games are against moderate OVC teams. 2 at the Ford and 2 on the road. They better figure out their issues during this stretch or it will be another very ugly season. The 5th is against SIU.

Licklitter wants to blame the players, but how can he blame the ones who he refuses to play? If the starters are struggling so much, as they clearly are, why not shake up things and see what happens? If the starters are so much better than the benchwarmers, what does that say about Licklitter's ability to recruit?

We can agree or disagree as to whether his hiring was a mistake, but what is important now is how long UE will allow Licklitter to further damage the program. This is shaping up to be the 3rd 20+ loss season out of the last 4. Licklitter's "system" does not appear to be one that seeks winning over losing.

I remember the disaster that his time at Iowa was. I was hopeful that he would have more success at a mid major. I am not ready to shut the door on him yet, as this is really his first full, non-COVID season. But the early results aren't great.
