I like the hire. Getting someone from a P5 conference with those connections will hopefully benefit the league... That being said, it's a good thing we didn't hire him for his head coaching ability. He makes Barry look like Coach K.

Looks like a solid hire. Would love to see a re-focusing on non-conference scheduling and working with other leagues to build resumes. Shouldn't be hard with our reputation now as a 2 bid league.

A. If you take a number, with a dollar sign in front of it, and divide it by 12, you will always get a smaller result than by dividing that same number by 10.

B. Belmont has beaten Murray State 81% of the time. With the recent exodus of two teams from the Obscure Valley Conference, Murray is probably hoping that Belmont goes somewhere else, so that Murray can once again be the big fish in the small pond. If Murray cannot hold their own against Belmont, how do you think they will do in the grinding MVC schedule? I doubt that Murray wants in.

Yeah, while I've always been fine with the add of Murray or Belmont, have never understood why people think that equates to more bids. They have the same scheduling issues the current MVC has, so while adding teams decreases the number of noncon games you have to go out and get, that doesn't raise the profile of the league. At best those type teams come in and add to the parody in the league, but neither have the resources
of teams like Creighton and WSU to outspend and ascend to the leagues top consistently. Belmont couldn't even get an NIT bid this year with a gaudy record and great recent history , so not much splash there.

The key to the league increasing it's image/ footprint isn't likely to be who we can add in the next couple years, but more in how can we increase the level of scheduling. I want to see some initiatives for things like sponsored MTE's , league challenges with a league[s] in the top 10 ratings etc.

Yet Murray has won 50% of their games with SIU... if SIU “cannot hold their own” against Murray, “how do you think they will do in a grinding” Obscure Valley Conference?
