Cade Walker also got hurt early. That's when the game started to turn.

I mentioned a couple weeks ago that Valpo was not an easy out. I stand by that. I guess there are no moral victories but if ya watched you know this doesnt go OT without the phantom foul late in regulation. Nothing easy in the valley.

Meanwhile over on the Bradley boards they're saying this game never gets to any OT except for the refs who hate Wardle. Let's all grow up and leave the refs out of it. If it's a roadie you know you have to fight the refs, and if you're BU at home you can't blame the officiating when you almost blow a home game as a 14-point favorite. Nice job by Valpo proving they might be for real, and if you're BU you find a way to win when you've had an off night. If Drake keeps doing what they're doing, it's all academic ... all the rest of us are going to be left hoping for alphabet soup tourneys or staying home.

Weirdly Drake had an off night against Valpo and Bradley had an off night against Valpo. Lets all grow up.

You missed the part where I said Valpo could be for real. The 'grow up' comment was, pretty clearly I think, about either fan base blaming refs. But anyway, Happy Holidays. Bradley spent plenty of years during my fanhood in the cellar, so I get what a potential turnaround looks like. And I for one hope Valpo can get back to its former self. Seems like they might. Cheers.

UNI played well for the middle 20 minutes and beat SIU 78-67. Score was closer than the game. Hutson had 20.

Crazy stat: first time SIU has cracked 60 points in Cedar Falls since 2009 and are now 1-18 all time in the McLeod Center.

In a game that close I suppose there ae 15 things you could look at to make a difference... if monegro goes 2 for 2 from line instead of 1 for 2 there is no overtime... In the end the players decided it.

It's like I said earlier. Bradley fans show up in Peoria. One of the few valley team that has a 10K+ arena and can fill it. Definitely was felt on the Valpo side as a lot of high percentage FT shooters looked off under the pressure from fans. Valpo isn't a pushover anymore. I still stand by that end.
