Yes TV plays a role, but that's after the schedule comes out. The league could very easily put both these games on Saturday when doing the initial scheduling.

As a UIC fan, just looking forward to the season being over in a few weeks.

Man it went south QUICKLY for UIC. What happened?

This is the Valley...just wait. The Flames will get hot in St. Louis and break some hearts. It's just they this crazy conference works.

This right here! The team will probably wind up healthy and Coach Ehsan will make the decision to have Javon Jackson come off the bench. Ehsan wants a fast game, but Jackson is undisciplined, causing charges, missing shots and terrible passes when he goes too deep in the hole.

For me, UIC still remains the dark horse to upset and wind up in the championship game with Drake, who the Flames can defeat.

Nope. TV is the first thing that limits the flexibility in creating the schedule. There's a game selection process that happens before the schedule is finalized and the rest of the schedule is built around that process, arena availability and the various other parameters that are used for competitive balance.

Essentially, you set certain matchups on certain days. When you do that, you limit your flexibility quite a bit.

Yep, that's why we use Kevin Pauga. He's a liaison to the networks and helps them set their schedules and then the rest is built around it. I know we use the 'wildcard' process now but you can tell exactly which matchups the nets want as soon as the schedule comes out.

So some asshole from Michigan St puts our rivalry games on weeknights so he can wine and dine with the suits at the networks.
