In last nights in the 2nd half, from the 16:30 to the 12:02 mark, Bradley had 8 possessions where Bradley scored 22 points on 7 of 8 shooting (6 for 6 from 3) which included Duke Deen going 5 for 5 from deep. The last one he was a step in front of the Valpo logo at half court.
There was a 3 point play from Jaquan Johnson, and Darius Hannah split a pair of free throws to get you to the 22 points, and Bradley scored on all 8 possessions as the one missed shot was blocked out of bounds.
When Duke gets going, the whole team can score a lot in a hurry. This is one of the strangest Bradley teams to watch as they can be so good and so frustrating multiple times in the same game.
A good shooting team, but shooting is volatile, and there are limited counters Bradley has for situations when a team has length, when they can get out and challenge, switch a lot, and when they are getting the right kind of ref style to allow physicality.
Then, Bradley also has a turnover bug that can manifest itself, and can sometimes become self induced and not dependent of any defensive pressure. I think that’s why so many of these games have been pulling rabbits out of hats, and just crazy swings. You can tell me Bradley gets bounced on Friday by anyone and I can buy it. Also think their best game holds up well with anyone, but they don’t get to it as consistently as several others.
As for Duke Deen, he’s as fun a player to follow as we’ve had. I’m thinking how he went white hot in Terre Haute last season and put Bradley in a spot they could have won there, along with these last few games. He also has had some down spells this season that were pretty rough. I’d personally think Bradley’s spot in standings warrant him rounding out a 1st team spot, but if he goes 2nd team and it helps a chip on the shoulder like it did for Darrell Brown in STL, that’s fine with me too.
