He's a Bluejay and a Bear. It's no wonder he's upset the Shockers are in first.

A week ago, the Shockers were falling apart, no one was doing anything right, and ShockerNet was setting itself up for a "Fire Marshall" thread. Now, following a homecourt win over then-winless Bradley and a mediocre road win against a fading Indiana State, Wichita State is suddenly a lock for the league championship. The rest of the season is just a seeding exercise. And I don't know who posted that garbage track analogy that read like some early 1980s made-for-TV movie montage, but GIVE ME A FREAKING BREAK.

Yes, Wichita State is playing extremely well right now, better than MSU. A couple weeks ago, Missouri State was playing much better. You know how I know that? Because we BEAT YOU ON YOUR HOME COURT. So did UNI. I'm not even saying WSU won't win the Valley regular season championship, come back to earth! Wichita is a big fat 0-2 against the other two top-3 teams in the league. Take a breath. Oh, and I really love how when another team (read: MSU) is in first place, they are playing with a target on their backs and everyone is going to give them their best shot. When it's Wichita's turn at the merry-go-round, playing as the league leader is so easy because other teams will be so terrified and shook up when playing the Shockers.

The Valley is a rollercoaster this year. When the Bears were at the top, I'm glad I didn't make any stupid, logic-defying posts like I see Shocker fans making now.

Just had to get that off my chest.

im guessing that came straight from the heart.

I'm guessing it came from his backside.

I am trying to figure out what has changed with MSU losing? I don't believe anything has changed. Both teams controlled their own destiny before the loss and both control it now.

With MSU losing (losing two games that nobody really was expecting them to, though maybe some saw the risk with UNI) totally changes the race.

1. WSU now is in first place all alone.

2. WSU had no margin for error prior, now they can lose 1 game and still win the MVC if they beat MSU at home.

3. WSU won on a road handily against a team that some considered a legitimate threat to beat them based on their performance against WSU in Wichita.

4. MSU has now shown in consistent fashion they can't close out games. Even in Wichita their offense struggled big time in the final 10 minutes.

Bottom line is, if both win out then the last game will be the Championship. Before the MSU loss, the same was true.

Two games ago, it was a shared championship at best - and WSU is not very likely to win out (as I have shown in a previous post).

Yes, MSU is more likely to win the conference with the remaining schedule. I don't think that is too hard to figure out and I would think most people, beside the Shocker faithfull, would agree.

The difference is two games ago, MSU was a lock. Now odds are not as long for WSU winning in dog patch. Couple games ago it was only about 40%, now they have increased to 46%. Also, WSU a big game that they were at a real risk of losing between now and the end of the season was the UNI game. It remains to be seen how the O'Rear injury will affect UNI, but I think it is reasonable to assume UNI is not a better team without O'Rear than with - but I don't know how to quantify that loss of a player.

Of course this might be all mute if WSU lays and egg on Saturday and lets ISU(R) beat them. If though the odds say WSU wins 96% of the time - 96% is not 100%, just as MSU found out with Evansville.

I think you are the one underestimating. We beat you by almost 40 in Wichita.

How many games ago was that? Im not saying UE is going to win but we have a good shot at it. That game in Wichita means absolutely nothing to do with the game in Evansville. Several years ago we lost by 50 to MSU and a week later beat them.

i would not be surprised if EU beat us. I don't think that they will, but their recent play is a little scary.
