Huh?
You've got to be kidding with NMSU. Crap basketball and way outside the footprint of the league. I can't think of one reason why we'd add them.
From last season:
New Mexico St: NCAA tourney participant (won conf. tourney); record of 24-10 (second place in 12th ranked conference); Rpi of 64.
North Dakota St: record of 15-14 (4th place in 16th ranked conf.); RPI of 183.
If NMSU is crap basketball, than the MVC is crap basketball too, considering we only had three teams with better RPIS (and two teams with better records).
NMSU also has a pretty significant history in D1 basketball (from wikipedia):
A Lou Henson-coached team gained national attention during the 1970 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament by advancing to the Final Four. And in 1992 a Neil McCarthy-coached team advanced to the Sweet Sixteen. Aggie Basketball has seen 19 NCAA Tournament appearances, 5 NIT Tournament appearances, 15 regular season conference championships, and 6 conference tournament championships.
That's just a little bit more impressive than NDSU's ONE NCAA appearance.
Also:
The Aggies hold the distinction of being one of 34 college basketball teams with multiple NBA retired jerseys from former players
You've got to be kidding with NDSU.
