I just thought it was funny listening to how dedicated UNI announcers were in pushing the "young" narrative every game, w/o clarifying that several of those they were talking about had been on roster 2-3 years. Seemed a purposeful mislead and funny because most fans knew it didn't sound right.

Personally I wish every school would just list players with how many years of eligibility they have left. It would make things easier for everyone.

SIU is going to pretty much have to go the UNI route and rebuild through strong recruiting classes.

There’s no point in trying to band-aid next year through the portal.

Huh? You know that you can recruit players that have multiple years of eligibility out of the portal, right?

The chances that an incoming high school recruit transfers out at some point in their four years are much higher than an incoming transfer transferring again in their 1-4 years. In fact, they're highly unlikely to transfer a 2nd time unless they've graduated.

It's just as easy, if not easier, to rebuild through the portal compared to high school recruiting. In fact, I would be concerned if my team ever took more than two high school recruits a class. UNI can get it away with it because they've got Jacobsen. But if you're not recruiting both high school and portal at a high level, you're not recruiting at a high level.

Interesting take - I think you're right.

I'm right in line with your thinking.Holding onto a HS kid for 4 years is going to be difficult and additionally if they're not able to crack your top 6-7 as a frosh, they start looking after year 1. If the NCAA truly holds to making it difficult to get a waiver for a second transfer, then a soph or jr to be who transfers in is your best option for some roster stability. If ya gotta sit, that's a big deterrent for many. Now some players are able to get around the second transfer issue by graduating first and then regardless of class, they are eligible to transfer. I think jucos are now a bit more risky, because while you can get top level jucos still, now they look at their second year and think, "take advantage of that 1 time option and see what I'm worth on the market after proving myself for a season of D-1". I think that was part of Mogbo's thinking, and conversely I think some of the other Bears are waiting to see the climate on second transfers because for many of them it would be.

Unfortunately, it looks like Murray State has lost another freshman guard in Jaxon Edwards.

Not a player but SIU just lost their lead recruiter to Green Bay, Pat Monaghan. I’m hoping there’s a plan here:
