Looks like they all want UT-A to start a program and maybe have been told one is coming. Not surprising, it's Texas. It's a way of life there. And, with that bit of information I would say don't worry about them because they'll be gone in 10 years after starting a football program. No way a school in Dallas stays FCS. Hell, CUSA might admit them from the beginning. UT-A is not a long term member

I agree with what you are saying, but...
Has any AD or conference commissioner ever admitted they aren't sure if they got the right guy or made the right addition? The AD at Pittsburgh was thrilled when they nudged Jamie Dixon out and hired Kevin Stallings. They had exactly what they wanted. Think about that one for a minute...

There will likely always be little periodic spasms to encourage the university to start f-ball.

However, unless our very own T. Boone Pickens appears on the scene, UTA is not starting football.

I won't elaborate here (reference my recent posts on csnbbs), but this position is, in my opinion, virtually guaranteed. Of course, no president or AD will say absolutely "no," as there is no need to needlessly antagonize anyone.

I feel I am better placed than most to arrive at this conclusion.

UTA is also virtually guaranteed to have a continued interest in our present line-up of sports, and especially basketball.

Apparently the saying that "Everything is bigger in Texas" is true; even the fonts are huge.

So UTArlingtonMavericks, if I may, what happened with Scott Cross? He was an alum wasn’t he? When he was there the Mavs were on a really exciting trajectory.

I don’t know the guy personally but he’s always seemed pretty reliable to me. Anyway, my sources are still telling me Murray State to join next and with the announcement not far off. It’s gonna be interesting.

Notes from Matt Brown today.

1--The Valley has no interest in any of the Dakotas due to distance, budget and population.

2--Milwaukee and Northern Kentucky were contacted early on but could not commit to increased budgets across all Valley major sports (MBB, WBB, VB, Baseball) so they were quickly dismissed.

3--No strong consensus for any individual applicant in 12/19 meeting. Arlington, UIC and Murray (if they can figure out football) still likely to be added at some point this spring. Arlington is the only one school that could potentially start in the league in 22-23 with the others coming in 23-24.

4--Kansas City's presentation and plan was the most impressive of any of the applicants and has caused the schools on the fence about them to be willing to take a deeper look.

I think Murray, UIC and UTA would be very solid additions. Hopefully that happens.

Interesting. I wonder what made their presentation/plan so impressive.
