ACL plus moving around a bunch screams somewhere like St Thomas to me. Can play close to home and get decent minutes at that level.

Just an FYI I cam across when I was looking in to some stuff, anyone who intends to transfer must enter the portal by May 1. I'm sure after the next week or so it will slow down. Players gotta figure out where they're going, get visits in, and likely be on campus in early June. Signing period is from 4/13-5/18.

Would think this better be a big year for Mullins; 4th year and under .500 so far, lower half of the Valley last year . I generally say if you're not challenging at the top by that 4th year, things aren't progressing well. Not sure it's personnel that's been the problem; gotta fix his offense ,although defensively they relied on pace of play to keep scores down, so he has to decide how to do one w/o taking away from the other as much. Hope he gets it figured out, Valley always more interesting when SIU is good. Have one of the better fan bases.

This is absolutely a huge year for Mullins. There have been reasonable excuses so far (none from him) for lack of success. But year 4, where our key guys are finally some of the older guys in the conference, and a clear path to being top 4 in the conference, SIU needs to avoid Thursday, even with the 5-12 seeds playing it next season. SIU has to get into the top 4 and challenge for a league title, or the optimists fans, including myself, won’t be so positive anymore like we have remained the first 3 seasons.

I still think Drake and possibly Missouri State will be better that SIU, but SIU should make a run. I think Mullins gets it done.

I think UNI will be good, possibly real good if Green is back and Phyfe can give them productive minutes. Bradley kinda in the same spot as SIU , if not now, when. Right now, I think that's the 5 in no particular order, Drake/UNI/MSU/Bradley/SIU. But it's gonna be a year of curiosity with 3 new members, newer regimes at both ISU's etc.; someone unexpected probably makes a move. Lot of summer to navigate though still, rosters still in flux across most teams.

Yes, the offense has been a bit of an issue. There are some causes for optimism that it should be better next year: the George Mason transfer PG seems like a good playmaker for others, Domask finished the year at a high level, there are some younger players who seem equipped to help, etc., but until you see it, some healthy skepticism is justified. As of now, SIU has one open scholarship left, and it seems very likely they'd be targeting an athletic wing or forward with some scoring punch ... someone to replace Coupet, but ideally a bit of an upgrade.

In fairness their new coach was in the middle of completely failing at Florida. Wait....

If Green comes back that obviously changes everything, but UNI is going to have to hit some transfer home runs to compete next year without him. Obviously too early to make any hard and fast claims with rosters being fluid, but right now I like Ind. St. as a dark horse to move up and surprise. Looks like 5 senior starters and improved size on the perimeter.

They're interesting with their moves and reliance on high level D-2 transfers. I too think they are the more likely of the bottom half to perhaps make a move. Certainly can see the method to the madness; now does it work ?

Will definitely be something to watch. Schertz would be the guy to know which D2 guys can really play given his background. If it does happen to work it might not be a bad model for valley schools to look at. With all the transfers in the market elite d2 prospects might fall through the cracks. Under the old model they had to sit a year when moving up, so it was rarely done. I think we'll find out very soon the answer to whether or not top level d2 players can compete in the valley.
