I'd straight-up rather have a H-H with ODU than Mizzou.

I can certainly see that line of thinking.I think any disappointment has to do with Mizzou being a name and a regional opponent which would create more intrigue while ODU is far away and less known especially to casual fans even though they are a solid program and a safer bet to be consistently good.

That's a stupid statement , and the follow-up by VU grad is off base to. ODU hasn't made an NCAA tourney since 2011 and only 4 times since 2000. They made it to the second round twice. I think you let the bad few years under Kim Anderson get in the way of rationale thought. MU has made 9 appearances in the NCAA tourney during that same period and twice made the Elite 8. They made the tourney last year in Martin's first year with one of the biggest turnarounds in the country. And with him there, they will be consistently good because he can recruit and he's better than average as a coach. People overlook he did that last year without the top two recruits from that super freshman group for the most part as M.Porter was hurt and Harris transferred out at semester.

Valpo will play @George Washington on December 8 with a return game next year.

So far here's what we know:

Home:
SIUE
UC-Riverside
Ball State
Non-D1(s)* Rumored

Road:
@ GW
@ UNLV
@WVU
@ Sweet 16 team (maybe Purdue)* Rumored

Neutral:
Myrtle Beach Invitational

If Ball State is the highlight of the nonconference home slate that is very disappointing. Honestly this schedule looks a bit weak and I'm not thrilled with the home slate and I will not be happy at all if there's multiple non-D1s.

Road is good. How's the mte? Home is very weak. Better get a P6 to save that home slate

MTE is good. We start out with WKU, and if we win that game we'll likely play West Virginia. That would give us two games against the Mountaineers. Then, we'd get one of St Joseph's Wake Forest UCF or Cal State Fullerton. If we lose to WKU, we'd likely get Monmouth. I don't see a P6 coming to the ARC but we will have Vanderbilt in 2019-2020. The 19-20 home slate should be solid and so should be the Crusaders

SIU's nonconference schedule is pretty good provided all of the opponents play as expected.

Home:
Winthrop
Murray State
SLU
Buffalo
Arkansas-Pine Bluff
Howard

Road:
SEMO
SIUE
Colorado State
Buffalo

Neutral:
UMASS
Nevada\Tulsa

One more game TBD

Not bad but they are a big enough school not to play two absolute crap teams on the road. Although I understand the series with Edwardsville never should they play both them and semo on the road in the same season

The only problem with a schedule like that is that there are no P-5 games. Now we all know that teams like Nevada, Buffalo, and Murray State will probably be better than half the P-5 teams and SLU could be really good this year, but it's not only a perceptual issue. As with any midmajors, those teams can be very succeptable to having some bad games on their schedules and the resultant rpi drop that comes with that. Gotta hope they can all hang in the top 40 range.

But still, that's a decent schedule especially if you get the Nevada game.
