Which of these team would you be okay with joining the MVC?

I still don't understand the football issue. What does it matter if Murray is in an FCS football conference? Apparently based on them not being very good? Why does that matter? Just gives teams another win? Are the playoffs lucrative? One in five teams get in the playoffs. Is one more victory against a bad team going to hurt? Is Murray guaranteed to be bad?

Is there some other reason other than they are not considered good enough? I would think SIU would want them as a natural rival.

I have another related question to this... I am a little naive on the subject, but why is there such strong heat between SIU and Murray State? If the problem was that big, they probably wouldn't have continued their basketball series for this long...

It's because of scheduling in the MVFC, UNI and Missouri State would be tied to playing all 4 Dakotas every year which means not only more difficult games but also flights everywhere in the 'West Division' while the east gets to have the credit of the MVFC name, a much easier schedule and a bus league.

SIU and Murray State are both public schools that compete for the same students. Honestly, I think the private schools in the MVC are more against Murray than SIU right now.

UIC and UTA rumor is picking up major steam.

Markets being the driving factor, obviously. Murray State would be the best add for basketball. No doubt. I guess that wasn't enough to get them in.

I'm sure 4-5 MVC schools will still continue to schedule them in the noncon.

We believe that prospective schools made their presentations on December 19. Anyone have inside info on when the President's council is going to meet and vote on this?

It’s hysterical to think that a kid growing up in Dallas will go to school in Cedar Falls/Evansville/etc bc UTA is in the same conference.

Let’s be honest about it: the President’s have been guaranteed that the first 3 years will be a free vacation in Dallas in Late January for some Conference Meeting which gets them out of the above referenced cities for the week fully paid by their employer. That’s the driver to this, and not making the MVC a better basketball conference, which should be the only driving factor.

This is pretty facially ridiculous and I can't tell if it is sarcasm. But it does bring up a great point. UTA would be the second most convenient road trip for me as a Drake fan in Des Moines when you factor in travel time and cost. I'm sure, to some extent, the same principle applies for team travel convenience. It would not surprise me at all to find out that a UTA road game would be one of the cheapest in the conference for the Bulldogs.

By the way, I'm not saying that we need to add UTA. I'm just pointing out that the distance argument that's often repeated around here doesn't really make a lot of sense to me.

I'd take Murray in a heartbeat if every school in the conference agreed that any trip longer than 4 hours by bus is a plane ride and the travel costs are pooled and shared equally among all conference schools.

The "rumor" stuff is really funny to me. If history has taught us much about the MVC, is that nobody outside of the league and university's offices, knows a damn thing. They are as tight lipped as any group I have ever seen. I tip my hat to them for that. The MVC never lets the cat get out of the bag. I, as well as other MVC fans, love to speculate. That's part of the fun of it. But the statements I read and hear such as "it's a done deal" are so incredibly bogus.
